    Hey,
I have been looking everywhere and I still can't find a hint of a COMPREHENSIVE Anti-spyware/adware program that will get rid of at least all the most common ones. The MOST common ones that I know keep pouring into my notebook are the tracking cookies and Comet Cursor (and I don't know where the Curse is coming from--I don't visit most of those types of sites. I HAVE installed a bunch of freeware recently, so that may be it. Is there a way to search for which apps include what bundled with them?

    1. Firefox for your browser
    2. Ad-aware and Spybot, Search and Destroy for your Spyware remover
    3. SpywareBlaster for your immunization
    4. ZoneAlarm firewall

    = No spyware.

Oh, and stop visiting those porn sites. It'll cut down on your spyware dramatically.

there is no one app for spyware protection. you have to be smart when browsing which is what you are NOT doing by downloading and installing a bunch of stuff off the web.

First of all, I DONT visit porn sites at all. I'm not that kind of person. What I meant by "Those Sites" was stuff like "Newgrounds.com" and such.
    I already use FF.
I have tried Defender--I kept getting something called "Windows Defender Antivirus Override" on my NB that was only detected by other programs. Not once did Defender discover something malicious. Only the other programs did. (Like SpybotSD and AdAware). So I got rid of it. Anyway, once its out of the Beta stage won't they try to make me pay for it?
And isnt Windows Firewall supposed to stop stuff like this from attaching itself to my computer? I DO have that enabled.

I've never had any kind of a firewall or spyware on my 3 year old computer that I go all over the internet with. I even used to download all kind of stuff with kazaa.

I just downloaded and ran the Windows Defender and it said I have absolutely NO spyware on my computer at all. Is that possible? Or is the program just not that great?

Everyone else seems to say that its awesome, but it surely didnt work for me.
On my old computer I used to use Limewire, but since its illegal and my college has a rule against P2P file sharing programs on college notebooks, I didnt put it on. No point in getting kicked out over something so simple as that. Now that you mention it, I think you're right about file-sharing being a gateway for spyware. My old mac was getting really slow.
Maybe you have something blocking the processes so that it wouldn't detect anything. I think that can happen, especially with viruses.

Spybot is dang near rated the #1 spyware tool. Ad-ware is awesome and is somewhere below Spybot in my book. Spysweeper is not free, but is equal to or greater than Spybot in my book. Scan times for Spysweeper are slower, but it finds almost everything.

As far as Free A/V the only thing I trust to use is AVG. For a paid AV I prefer Pccillin.

I have yet to find a single spyware program that protected from/removed ALL spyware. That being said I use one as an active guard: Spysweeper, and I use spybot as an extra set of eyes every couple weeks.

I told you, dangit, I don't visit porn sites. I meant sites that set spy-and-adware cookies and stuff on your browser.

There is no single best free program for antispyware. The best free programs are either hijackthis, ad-aware SE personal, Spybot SD, or Windows Defender. The best paid programs are either Spyware Doctor, Spy Sweeper, or CounterSpy. Products like Spybot are good, but aren't really the best if you use them only by themselves; using combinations of scanners is much better.

Hey doode, I'm just messing with you. So you don't do the porno, it's alright, everyone's scared of their first time :D...but IMO, newgrounds is darn close to being porno :p

On a more relevant note, use Antivir for your viruses. It's fast and has a small footprint.

Haha...it's so cute. Trekon86 had to use TWO posts to defend himself from porno accusations. You're too funny man, too funny!
