the thing I hate about hotmail is that you need to pay to use it with Outlook!!? What's that all about, and you get loads of junkmail form MSN. Gmail is perfect

GMail is so bad. With regards to privacy anyway. I rather not have my email lying around for ages in some data warehouse that's available for searching by who knows who. So I don't use it.

I love my gmail account the best, although I do use hotmail and yahoo. I received 100 invites on mine. I guess I must have been one of the first people to use it.

I use gmail, and love it. I hear it doesn't have the best privacy and security compared to others, but its not like I'm sending plans for bombs through it. Loads of storage, plus use it with google talk and it rocks.

I am quite accustomed to Yahoo, 1 GB for mail storage is quite enough (and I like the calendar). Gmail is fine (but it does not have a calendar).
Hotmail is a total junk, I only have an account for messenger and I never ever even look into the mailbox that I suppose is overcrammed with spam by now.

I use my Yahoo account with Messenger. It doesn't really need to be Hotmail now.

Fastmail.fm is great - free IMAP etc, only downside is 10MB size.
I've also been pretty happy with inbox.com - 2gb size.
gmail would be great if it wernt for the fact that they store emails forever - who knows what the US govt may decide to do with me under the patriot act for making anti govt comments in my emails.

Does mail.ru have an english interface ?

Never really caught on to the whole Gmail thang. Tried it out in the beginning, and didn't like the whole threaded email thinggy. I've been a hotmail user since '96... now with Live Mail, I'm really loving it (except for the fact that it don't work in Opera). I think that the Live Mail interface itself is worth all the spam that ends up in my Junk Mail. I've tried out yahoo, but don't like their perpetually slow servers. I do have a GMX address (which I use solely for their POP3 access), but ever since the Live Mail beta started, I haven't even checked my mail there.

At the risk some of you take the  I'll just type this...

UK user here. I currently have lycos, yahoo and gmail accounts. Yahoo and Lycos are brilliant but don't have as much storage as gmail - they allow sender blocking and spam very rarely get through - the spam folders are kinda redundant.

Gmail however....I appreciate the storage space...but I keep getting stupid 'viagra' (various spellings) spam msgs - they end up in the spam folder - nothing wrong with the spam filtering, but I don't wanna get them in the first place. Google of course doesn't let you to ban senders because...?

Maybe I'm weird and being too picky?

P.S. No jokes. I have no problems there, and on other forums (UK forums) it seems others get these stupid spam emails a lot)

Yahoo here because you can't create folders in Gmail and I don't like how they attach all messages in one mail.

Yahoo. Never let me down. Many people like Gmail because they feel "special" when they get an invite :p Good marketing technique. "It's invite only so it's gotta be good!"

Gmail is much faster than Yahoo Mail, especially compared to the new interface of Yahoo Mail.

The autosave draft feature and conversation threads, as well as the autofill-in for emails, along with a nice, quick interface is really the selling point for Gmail. Plus the huge space.

Others can't really compare. Plus they're always adding new things, such as automated tracking links (got a email containing a tracking number? there will automatically be a link on the side that directly goes to that shipper's trackign info... some might call this email snooping, to me it's ultimate convenience.)

I definitely like gmail the best. You can get a gmail notifier extension for firefox that will alert you when you have new mail and you can preview snippets of the new messages.

You can also use a program called Gmail Drive shell extension to upload files and use the storage space on your gmail account to save files online.

The best free service would be Gmail. But if you're willing to pay, services like MSN Hotmail and Yahoo mail can both have much better features than Gmail.
