Does anyone have a good free file encryption software? Right now I am using AxCrypt, but was wondering if there was any other ones out there.

I like the ease of AxCrypt as well as the shred and delete function. I don't really have any files that really need to be encrypted, but it's always a nice to have.

    Thanks

TrueCrypt is, AFAIK, the best there is, and it's cross-platform.

I have a USB flash drive with TrueCrypt.exe on it, and an encrypted file. I store other things on it as well, but it lets me keep *ahem* private things on it (passwords and so on... ;)), and not worry if I happen to lose it, and use it on any computer.

I personally use Digital Vault from StompSoft. I got my copy at http://www.stompsoft.com/digital-vault.html. It's not free, but none of the free encryption software I tried was able to do everything I wanted it to do and I finally decided it was worth it to just invest the few bucks in Digital Vault. Besides, they offer a free demo so it wasn't like I was risking anything by trying it out. If you're serious about keeping your data safe, you may want to consider foregoing the free stuff and investing a little in your data encryption software. As the saying goes -- you get what you pay for. ;)
