I was wondering what the best file recovery software for an external/portable HDD is? Disregard the price, I'm just looking purely at the most effective recovery software that can be used on an external/portable HDD.
Also on the software you recommend, how efficient would it be in recovering a formatted drive or deleted files? Thanks.
I've already heard about R-studio, Easeus & Diskdigger, are there any programs more effective than those? Or are these the best?

Phoenix Data Recovery is pretty good.

They function very similarly, albeit some cosmetics to the UI and some bells and whistles. As long as you haven't "wiped" the drive, there's a chance you can get to some of your deleted data.

With DD I'm only allowed to save one file at a time. With R-S it freezes near 100% everytime and takes nearly the whole day. I haven't tired EASEUS yet though. I'll take a look at Phoenix. I thought with R-S I'd be good since somewhere I remember reading it is efficient and effective with external/portable HDDs.
