    Hello,
I am getting a few crashes now and then and blue screen error messages. When i type the codes in on a search engine it always comes up with the issue of my computer having a clogged up registry which is causing .exe corruptions and suggests a Registry Cleaner (which happens to be made by them), they always have all this "Free Scan" stuff but, it is never actually completely free to scan and fix the problems it picks up.

Is there a good free registry cleaner out there does anybody know?

I'm compiling the tips in the Free Software Sticky and the people there posted these as tools for you registry. I literally just copy-pasted these. I know close to nothing about this, but the first two were mentioned most often. Maybe those will work out for you. Good luck! :)

Crap-Cleaner. Nice app, not so nice name. Since you decided to go the Windows way, you will also need something to keep your registry error-free and improve system performance. Registry cleaner, Uninstall utility, and system cleaner.

    RegScrubXP
    – Keep that registry free of defects.

    RegSeeker
Great registry management tool. It offers quick access to startup entries, uninstall information, colour schemes, History items (URLs, recent documents etc) and IE Favourites. There is also a selection of tweaks.

Eusing Free Registry Cleaner- Another reg cleaner.

NTRegOpt -Compresses your registry. Doesn't alter entries, so *should be safe*.

to the best of my knowledge tis CCleanear (CrapCleaner). but the last time i use it, it is not as user friendly as something, say.... Registry mechanic, and it also a a drop down menu on the recycle bin (though u can opt remove that easily), and it contains somewhat dangerous tool. Crapcleanerhttp://www.ccleaner.com/

This sounds very suspcious to me..

I would run a scan on www.fileresearchcenter.com as a start to find out what is on your computer. It may well be that you have trojans/malware etc on your machine.

Registry cleaners can be dangerous! Some can be overzealous and cause problems of their own. That said CCleaner is a good one which I've not had any problems with.

Check other threads for good anti spyware/malware/trojans software recommendations and thouroughly scan your computer as that could be a good starting point before changing things in your registry.

I use a combination of first two listed by A_Student. Mostly RegScrubXP... although after running RegScrub and then CCleaner afterwards, it will still find things, whereas the other way around RegScrub will not find anything so I presume at a guess CCleaner is better

For the extra-paranoid like myself, I also run NTRegOpt, also listed above. Call it more paranoia, placebo or whatever but despite only a mere 9% compression on 1st run I swear my startup times are better, but hey I may have already lost it by now :p

I tried that File Research website, but everytime i install the add-on FireFox just locks up. But i do run regular scans with AVG and Spyware Doctor, so malware and trojans shouldn't be the issue, because when the last blue screen occurred the first thing i did when it was running again was scan with AVG and Spyware Doctor, and i picked up nothing.

Thanks for all the help i have just installed CCleaner now :)

ah I thought the same when I first tried it.. I think when you install it and you have the add-ons window open it seems to hang up, if you wait a few mins it un-freezes. I believe that it is actually starting the scan and just doesn't free up the add-ons window.

    For some reason, I have:

    Registry Mechanic
    Ccleaner
    WinAso
    Advanced Windows Care v2 Personal

    installed on my notebook.

LOL. I know its not necessary to have this many registry cleaners but I like them all! Every one of them finds stuff the others don't.

Ccleaner is probably the safest one to use. Very user-friendly and only skims the surface of the registry for issues. The others, they are hardcore registry cleaners.

With that being said, which registry cleaner should I keep and which should I just delete?
