No problem dude, just letting you know. :)
I've seen them both before. I think i meant to add PC DECRAPIFIER to the list, thanks for reminding me. Also, i don't want to include anything that deals with the registry because people were having problems with such software.

I have both PC Decrapifier and Free Registry Defrag, but I've always been afraid to try them.

LOL? Why have them then...? Why not just back up everything, create restore pt, if you're scared.

That's from the makers of Ccleaner and Recuva. I'm sure its not on this cuz its still BETA. Plus, I looked at SS's, they have typos...so I don't trust it for now. lol

I know of it, it's still in beta and a defrager in beta can do some massive performance damage so I'll keep it off the list until it hits final. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Wow, I'm surprised I haven't recommended this yet: Handbrake
    http://handbrake.fr/
It's a DVD ripping program that converts to a few output file types.

Also since when has Auslogic Registry Defrag been off the list?

Thanks for the suggestion. Also, Auslogic Registry Defrag has been off the list since someone complained it messed them up, along with the other registry related programs so i keep them off the list.

If you could edit out those names that would be nice. But to answer your question, i had to get rid of that section if i wanted to compile the list. I had a good section, but they didn't want anything to do with file sharing so it got kicked.

    Your welcome. :)

One of the first things I noticed was that the background of my start menu no longer highlighted with blue, but changed to black. It was pretty ugly. And then I started noticing some performance and stability issues, so I reformatted and did a clean install.

I've had similar problems with other reg utilities; I plan on staying away from all of them from now on. When my system seems that it's time to really clean up, I'll just re-install clean again. It's not that big of a deal, especially if you have an image of a clean install handy. It can be completed in around 10 minutes or less, and then you have a fresh new system again.

It tries to be a jack of all trades but does each one poorly. When i used it, it slowed down my system to a crawl, and i had to system restore to get everything back to normal.

It "defrags" way to fast(2mins) on my c drive which is impossible.
I had 105 gb space remaining, after defrag it went to 100 gb.

Auslogics does its job fast, which is good, and it can't change the amount of free space you have either. If it happened out of the blue, it's most likely System restore.

I am 99.99% sure it's not the defrag that caused it. If you don't like it, then use another application, but this seems like either a secluded incident or chicanery of some sort. So I'll leave it up.

So, if I understand correctly, the problem was with Auslogics Registry Defrag and not Auslogic Disk Defrag? I was really going to download the disk defrag program.

Has anyone else had experience w/ERUNT & NTREGOPT? I have used these for several years and more recently on my Vista Business, see link. http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/
ERUNT is a reg. backup program w/ a lot of flexibility if you use cmd line switches or if you aren't familiar w/ or are too lazy to use them, put me in both of these categories, a completely automated mode. It also has an automated restore reg. capability which has come in handy for me.

NTREGOPT is a reg defrag program that seems to work very nicely but I would be curious if someone w/ greater insight than me has any feedack.

Calvin, could you consider adding Sphere Timer?
    http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail.aspx?li=69d902f4-6abc-4659-9bae-32aae1724373&l=1
It's a sidebar gadget. I wouldn't mention it except that it wasn't too easy to find a decent sidebar gadget that had a countdown timer like I wanted. Useful if I have something in the oven, or if I have to leave to catch a train at a certain time.

EDIT: Hmmm... now that I think about it, maybe this is better off being put in a gadget thread... which maybe just needs to be stickied. I think I found the right thread anyways....

This question is to Calvin or anyone else who has knowledge on the issue: Which program is better to use for HDD encryption, TrueCrype or Cryptainer LE? Is one really better than the other? Are there any advantages/disadvantages to using one over the other?

Hey, I just noticed that Auslogics Registry defrag creates hidden NTUSER.DAT file chunks everytime you use it to defrag. There's 20+ files there. Is there a way to consolidate these files? (A program to do this would be appreciated).
