I can do that manually with reshack. Plus theres many add-ons using that do that for you such as middle_man, deadaim, otsego, aimutation, etc. and they do lots more such as tabbed IMs, clone aim, chat logging, aliasing etc.

on my laptop after installing the basics of computer protection programs and windows vista updates, i've gone from 14-ish GB free to 7-ish GB free now. so is there a program listed that will go through my hard drive and show me how much space each folder is taking up? i've use desktop armor's "where's my space gone?" but that program is a trial which results in pop-up(s). and i've use ccleaner but not much of a difference just some MB's freed up. (and let me know if i should be asking elsewhere)

It's already on the list, and if you read the rules for contribution you would have checked for it. It's right there up on top, near the first ones too.

Thanks for the list! :) Found many great freewares here.

    A few suggestions:
TotalCommander is shareware, it shouldn't be here?
OrbitDownloader is an awesome free download manager.

I'm looking for a free calendar application that can be attached to desktop and has to-do list, notes and google calendar integration? Is it exist?

I'll look into TotalCommander again to see if it is good enough shareware, I'll look into the download manager. About your question, I'm sure you're looking for Rainlendar.

You might want to add Maxthon Browser to your list. A fabulous substitute to Internet Explorer 7.

    http://www.maxthon.com/

Edit: FYI, the beta version (2.1) runs a hell of a lot better than their older version (Classic).

D'oh.. after I posted, I got an update from them saying that theres a newer version out.

    *bonks head*

I'd say this is on par with FireFox. I like the fact that I can actually run Windows Update (without any special plug-ins or sites) and some other things linked to IE that FF lacks.

    Another suggestion:
Shouldn't a list of free FTP clients be added?
    - FileZilla
    - AlFTP
    - SmartFTP
    - CoreFTP
    Password Management:
    - PasswordSafe: I chose this over KeePass just because it has better support for Japanese characters.
    Video Players:
    - GOMPlayer
    - KMPlayer
    Music Players:
    - Songbird
    Encryption:
    - Steganos LockNote
    Text Editors:
    - PSPad

And for info: Rainlendar needs pro license for Google calendar support. :(

More question for a freeware application: I'm looking for an alternative of Alcohol 120% which allows making image from DVD/CD and can emulate a DVD/CD image (I don't need many virtual drives, 1-2 is ok). Any recommendation? Alcohol 52% not included because it includes an annoying spyware toolbar. :)

    I don't see Autoruns.

This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services, and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility bundled with Windows Me and XP.

Autoruns' Hide Signed Microsoft Entries option helps you to zoom in on third-party auto-starting images that have been added to your system and it has support for looking at the auto-starting images configured for other accounts configured on a system. Also included in the download package is a command-line equivalent that can output in CSV format, Autorunsc.

You'll probably be surprised at how many executables are launched automatically!

I don't know if this has been posted yet but I think that this little piece of software will surely interests lots of roamers out there. This software will switch predefined network settings with one click of a button. Just be sure to to use it in administrator mode.
It works with both wired and wireless network.

Would anyone mind to help me test Defraggler? I've heard great things about this program but i've read up on some strange problems in their forum, yet i don't know if they exist. If you think you're ready, read up on the problems that you might run into on their forums and install it and tell me what you find. Thanks to all those who can help. :)

I've used Defraggler, i use Ccleaner and thought i'd give it a go. It performs as good as JKDefrag, in someways it's better as you can see the analysis before it starts but it seems to work well.

I am working on XP though so... might be worth trying it on Vista to do a fair comparrison lol

Well i used it about 4 or 5 times and had no problems.

I tested Defragler by forst using JKDefrag Gui and then ran Defragler... the analysis was quick and it showed that the only fragnemted files were the page file, so i told it to defrag that, it tried (obviously it couldn't whilst it was being used, and re-analysed and the same files were "red" again.

It works as good as JK and seemingly without problems.... well for me anyway. I do however run JK about once a week so as to keep on top of file fragmentation because i've only got a 40Gb HDD on my work laptop.

I'm planning on using Diskeeper when i get my new gaming notebook, anyone have problems using pro premier?

I figued this was here already - but one of the BEST little freebies I have used in years is ieSpell - the very program this forum uses for spell checking in the message box (maybe that's why it is not listed? But you can use it everywhere). I have used it for years for web-based spell checking. I have yet to find any problems with it across 3 versions of Windows OS.

Lol. Wow. FF has EVOLVED greatly since 2 years ago. Memory leaks may be prevalent in version 2 a little bit, but the new FF 3 RC1 has memory leaks down. I suggest DLing and using that. :) But if you prefer IE7 or IE8 Beta go ahead. :D
