Hey guys i was just wondering what is the best Media player (plays videos/music) for Windows Vista 32Bit.

It doesnt matter if it is the best free one or if it is the best retail player i just need a really good one!

If the best out there is Windows Media Player then i will stick with that knowing its the best but i was just wondering if there are any better ones

    Thanks in advance!

CCCP + MPC for best quality. (VLC sucks at interlacing, but is very compact)

Depends on what you mean for the best. If you mean for codec support, I use Media Player (with Divx, CCCP). The only time I don't use it is if I run into an odd extension, then VLC works.

Native WMP with Vista Codec Package on Vista, and CCCP with native WMP on XP. Get's the job done. Got iTunes installed, so that handles Quicktime, but I believe both codec packs have their own Quicktime fixes.

the thing is everytime i view a movie and watch it full screen it is very blurry.

How can i preserve native 1280x800 viewing while watching a movie on full screen

it's not the player that affects video quality, it's the decoder.. and the decoder is shared among all of your players (unless you set it differently) i'd recommend not bothering with decoders, most are already optimized for viewing quality.. only pros should mess with the settings

that having been said, i'd recommend winamp

i've used many different players in the past, even very strange ones that you've never heard about, and i always went back to winamp.. because it simply is the best

perhaps the movies that you are watching are low quality and when you watch it full screen.. it stretches

the resolution shouldnt change when you switch to fullscreen mode

VLC has good video+audio quality, more volume.
VLC is my primary video player.

I've never noticed a change in video quality amongst players regarding the same file. I run HD quality (720p) on a 1680x1050 monitor and it looks fantastic windowed or full screen on WMP. I would imagine the source file would have a more important role in video quality, though I really don't know.

I noticed a difference in video quality (atleast color, brightness) among WMP 11 and VLC with the same source file.

Maybe you don't quite understand how it works. I'm assuming your screen is 1280x800 resolution. When you watch a video file that's a lower resolution than that, say 600x200, when you view it fullscreen it will be stretched and you lose quality.

Ever had a really small pic and when you zoom it in a bunch it gets all blurry? Same thing.

I personally prefer Media Player Classic, it handles HD content better than VLC.

KM has a nicer interface and MANY more options. Skins actually work half decent (unlike VLC). However, they both play files just the same, without codecs and all.

VLC is choppy and laggy when you click in the middle of a video. KM Player looks better, uses less resources, has DESKTOP MODE, overall much better. I used VLC before I knew KM for years but when I tried KM, there was no way I was going back to vlc.

Hey, I have a question for you. I'm using the latest version of KM and there seems to be a interface color cycling feature that I can't find a way to turn off. Any suggestions?

CCCP + MPC gets my vote for "best" since it does everything you could need, its lite on resources, fast, and easy to navigate.

However if your a power user like I became when I started working with command line video encoding, MPlayer is even more powerful but not as easy to use unless you find a nice pre compiled version of it with an interface.

Yes, but then what? There is no "disable color cycling" feature, and even editing that custom colors text file does nothing. Any other suggestions?

    right click>options>check advanced menu
    right click>skins>color theme

They changed it up this new version. They made me look for it, lol.
    Hope it helps :]

KM Player. Then nothing. Then VLC
KMPlayer even lets you sync 'out-of-sync' audio. It's a master piece.
