Hi all, I've been using my HP 1410 printer/scanner for quite a while now and find that the photo editing suite that came with it is a bit lame. I've recently updated all the drivers and checked for upgrades to the software but there is none available.
Does anyone know of any good photo editing software.
Thanks in advance.

Live photo gallery, Picasa, Paint.net, and Gimp.

If you have any kind affiliation with an educational (school) institution, the Adobe Creative Suites can be purchased for approx 20% of retail/list.

Photoshop elements can be fun too, and really easy

For standard editing XNView is an extremely powerful tool, and free. For vector graphics, check out Inkscape.

Adobe Photoshop CS4
It has photo right in the name
Can be overkill for basic stuff though, I hear Picasa has a very good built in editor for basic stuff that lets you do what would take 3 minutes in photoshop almost instantly.
Gimp is a free Photoshop based alternative. -
I have used the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite ever since version 4, currently I use Corel DRAW X4 (14) and I am pretty happy with it.
Corel Photo-Paint X4 is more limited in functions than Adobe Photoshop CS4, though, but is still a powerful and reliable alternative, especially for works that are more focused on design than image editing, while retaining the advanced functions found in Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 and some not found in it (LAB support, 16-Bit Abilities, among others.)
Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 is more user-friendly than Corel Photo-Paint X4, as it guides the user through the use of the application and progresses as the user progresses and is focused solely on image edition.
Other than that, the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite is less expensive than the Adobe Suite products combined, and you have similar functions to Photoshop and Illustrator for a fraction of the price.
As far as free products go, as other members have said in this thread, The GIMP! and Picasa are great programs, The GIMP! is amazing on what it offers, pretty powerful and with a good customization community across operative systems. -
I'd say...
Expensive:
Photoshop CS (4 is current)
Cheaper:
Photoshop Elements
Free:
Paint.Net, Gimp -

That does look pretty good. If I read it correctly it only works for 64 bit Windows, which is of no use to me. I've heard Adobe Photoshop is pretty good to but some say it's a little tricky to get your head around.
Is there a free trial for these (expensive) photo editing softwares.
Thanks for the link by the way. -
Photoshop is simply the best if you can afford it. You can download trial directly from adobe.com.
