CC Cleaner doesn't seem to work well for me so is there a better registry cleaner?

    Thanks.

Do you really need a registry cleaner though? Most of the time registry cleaners don't improve performance and are only really useful for people who uninstall and reinstall lots of applications(to prevent conflicts due to previous registry entries).

The best registry cleaner is no registry cleaner at all.

Most registry cleaners clean out junk that will simply remove settings that will be overwritten anyway. Even if they clean other "junk" it will not result in improved performance.

A few registry cleaners will actually compact and defragment the registry, which conceivably could have some effect, but if it does your computer is so screwed up you should be re-installing anyway.

Registry cleaners are like snake oil

I must agree with Gerry - the best one is none.

That's not to say they can't be used - but in most cases you WILL break your OS, and if its just a little thing that let's the OS erode.
(Same as chopping down a few trees - not in itself too harmful - but in the long term... the ground doesn't take up the same amount of water etc.)

And the registry - it makes me wonder what software you used so that it would leave enough keys for it to slow down your laptop a lot...
Alternatively - if you really look for just one software - use regedit at your own risk and remove them manually.,

I would suggest Jv16 Power Tools from Macecraft Software.
The normal mode cleans applications without impacting Windows registry items. Has auto-back-up to undo if something goes wrong.

You don't need a registry cleaner, at least not on Windows 7. There won't be any effects, positive or negative by using one on W7.

The point that something works now when you "tweaked" it doesn't mean that won't cause problems later one.
That's what I mean - and services are also all interlinked, as are registry entries.

Then you want to switch back A and find B doesn't work...
