I need something other than notepad to write down the random things that pop into my head through out the day.
I was using a palm Treo 680 awhile back and it had a really nice task list manager.
I need something that can maby group tasks (music, movies, books, tv, research etc) but something that is quick.
Any suggestions?

What about Outlook?
That has a task planner integrated.
It should also Sync with a Palm or BlackBerry (Berry is experience, I've got one)

There are also many free sticky note utilities that will allow you keep/create quick notes right on your desktop.

I use a Windows Mobile PDA (have not yet found an affordable PPC Cellphone, although the HTC Touch HD is promising, so I keep my PDA and cellphone separate still) with PocketInformant and PocketBreeze - syncs with Outlook, too. I also use ListPro
On the Palm OS platform, look at DateBk6. -
There are lots of "list" and "tree list" programs available, both for pocketPC and for Windows. When I was using my PDA more, I bought a package called Trenotes. It was very inexpensive, worked very well on the PPC and on the PC. This allowed you to edit your lists on either computer, and sync them with activesync. I still use the program on my PC, and I'm about to load the PPC version on my smartphone. However I found some free programs that were almost as good.
You can search a site such as freewareppc for the pocketPC side of things, or downloads.com for the Windows side of things. Search for "list" or "tree".
If you want a list that stays on your desktop, look for a program called Hottnotes. I use it myself to keep my hotlist on my screen at all times. In Vista there is a sidebar widget that does about the same thing. Programs like this are called "sticky notes" programs, and there are lots of them available. -
Google rainlender. Adds a calendar, events, and to editable to do list right on your desktop for free.

I'm not a fan of Outlook's task manager. I prefer the flexibility of Microsoft OneNote.

I actually went to portableapps.com and downloaded Sunbird, didn't like that.
They also had a program called Task Coach, which was perfect.
I was looking for something on the PC, not for Palm. I just said I used Palm and liked it, I don't own one.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.. -
