The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    I'd have to say Windows XP is the best. Stable, runs everything, easy to configure. All-around excellent. 95 would win by miles for the biggest improvement over the previous version. And I really liked using 98, too, though there wasn't that much of a difference between it and 95.

    I've used:

    Windows Vista Home Premium
    Windows XP Home
    Windows 2000 Professional
    Windows 98
    Windows 95
    Windows 3.11
    MS-DOS 6.22
    MS-DOS 7 (packaged with Windows)

    Also used XP Pro one time, but that doesn't really count.

    Never heard of Windows Fundamental. Time to call on Google.

    Now I've used WindowsRG, too! It's got a Really Good media player, if only it wouldn't crash!
