I use GOMPlayer for all my videos

Great little player with alot of options that can be used easily :D
Not sure about quality but seems great to me

Also, for files with really low volume I use VLC
    400% FTW :D :D

Look up Media Player Classic Home Cinema or you can download Shark 007 codec pack that will allow WMP to play virtually any format out that.

are you asking about free or paid products?
for free is use vlc and media player
for paid i use powerdvd10 and total media player 3. they both upscale video thru gpu accleration and support mulitcore technology. they play blurays ans also support 3d for non 3-d dvds and 3d blurays.

Read this: Media Players - CCCP
    Download this: CCCP Download

If you want the best video playback software with the best quality follow my advice. I'm assuming you're new to this, want to learn, and have an open mind. If you don't want to follow my advice that is okay, I am not going to put a gun to your head and force you to use a certain software.

I use the Shark007 codec pack since it works with Windows Media Center (which is a nice plus if you actually use it for watching anything mkv related) and makes it so that WMP12 plays just about anything you want to try throwing at it. You get to use all the nice hardware acceleration that comes with it using these as well.

CCCP is what I used to use, and it also works pretty well with Windows Media Player, although I could never get the right combination of checkboxes so that hardware acceleration would work on everything until after 2 hours of messing with settings, and I don't remember them now.

I like the look of GOMPlayer, though it will not play my dvd`s , also it keeps asking for codex and then fails to find them :(

    Media Player Classic.

It can do anything. Want to move the subtitles up so you don't have to keep glancing down? It can do it. Etc...

Any media player that can use the madVR video renderer. I watch videos, not pixels.

    Quick question
Is there any program that can upscale .avis files and DVDs on the fly to around 1280x800

Also, Calvin, I read that post but most was gobeldegook to me :p
However, I have an open mind, so can you explain in simple terms why GOMPlayer is bad?

    Thanks :D

madVR will do that, but it won't blur and add in live noise like some filters will (some people like a bit of blur and noise to make it look more film like).

GOMPlayer is bad because it does evil things to your videos and doesn't play them right. If you don't understand then following my advice is best.

I use K-lite Mega codec. I am not sure about quality, I'll eventually try other codecs and compare. It will play any video format out there, even some that doesn't exist jk.
