I just purchased a Sager NP9150 (switching from a crappy Asus) and am looking for the best way to keep my drivers STABLE and up to date. I have been using SlimDrivers, but I'm kind of suspecting that of making my system a little unstable.

Any recommendations for a solid driver update method?

    congrats.
if you ordered with a operating system pre installed then you should have the driver disc as well.
you should be good to go out the box.
when you do need to reload them after a clean install just load them in order as they are on the disc and you will be upto date.

which graphics card did you get? this is the only one that gets updated regularly.

any problems just post in the clevo/sager thread > Clevo Forum and Sager Forum

Yes, it's coming with Win7 Pro installed - but I mean to keep them up to date. Got a 670mx and the base i7 3630qm.
On this Asus, I get terrible crackling audio (associated with some extremely high DPS Latency) and freezes (associated with gfx drivers)

The forums are actually a good way to stay up to date on drivers, as people here keep an eye on the BETA releases. As for an automated/unattended way, I don't really trust third party programs. I know file hippo has one but I haven't used it. 3D chip is a good tool for detecting and pointing you to the site to download your driver, but it's really better after doing a fresh install if you haven't backed up your drivers already or can't seem to recognize a device.

These two things do not necessarily go together.

Good answers here. And many thanks to you, Mr.DJ, you have provided me (and I am sure, many others) with easy to find links. Keep up the good work, sir.

Knowing which model and make you have does help the rest here help you in return as laptop and what video they use and what limits of drivers are available based on the chipsets as well. So if video besides the drivers from the manufacture is best to look at example nvidia site and seeing where your GPU model fails into the notebook video driver site and from there you will know what latest available software you can install. I myself unless you want stability will stay away from beta as those are not release and if your gaming that would not be a advised driver to use unless your debugging it. As with any drivers search on the company site is the best solution before searching third party or using third party software that you could get free from the company or having to register to even get the free update download. That so that you can be sure it is malware free or Virus free and not hidden or unwanted installing programs-that is the main reason to stay away from third party install/updaters software.
