For those who have upgraded and have looked around the Windows Marketplace for Metro apps, what apps have just blown your socks off in terms of quality and execution? Two I've found tonight that I love:
The Big Picture. The Boston Globe's daily photojournalism collection, in a MUCH nicer interface than the website offers. Free.
Netflix. Same service across all devices, but the app quality varies dramatically. This is the best I've found so far, and I've used iPad, Kindle, Roku, and Wii.
Let's add to this list with what has really wowed you with quality and attention to detail.

Bank of America. Prior to the Windows 8 version, I thought the iPad version had the best UI. Windows 8's blows it away with the UI consistency and in my opinion, actually works better than the full website.

Clouder!. awesome soundcloud app. you can login to your account, see your dashboard/incoming tracks, browse the most popular tracks, live tile works well, player can be docked/snapped to the side. BUT, i can't get any tracks to play. *facepalm* so its basic purpose is nonfunctional as of yet, but that should be a quick-fix and this app has serious potential.
Soundrivin. i should probably give an honorable mention to this soundcloud app since it actually plays tracks, but the interface definitely isn't laid out as nicely as Clouder! -
NASA: Be a Martian. If you have children or you just love outer space, this official NASA app is loaded with useful information and cool multimedia in a really attractive interface.
-
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Far better interface than the web browser player for his show.

I suspect the Colbert Report will get its own app pretty soon.

Board Express Pro. this is my first post from the forum/tapatalk app for windows 8, but it's the same one i use on windows phone. very nice interface, everything laid out pretty intuitively. very cool to snap this with twitter/email/rss on an extended monitor. i am having an issue syncing favorites with my skydrive (i get a "communication error") so i had to manually locate and sign in to all my forums, but other than that a great app all-around.

Unfortunately, the Daily Show app is broken--no new content since November 1st.
Games-wise, I'm hooked on Pinball FX 2. Best touchscreen game I've ever played, because it's just like real pinball machines--simple controls (easily replicated with just a touchscreen) but complex gameplay. -
Top Gear News. Essential for any automotive fan. Content from Top Gear: cars, driving, supercars and the TV show - BBC Top Gear - BBC Top Gear but a vastly superior user experience to the web interface.
-
Skype. Great for the avid communicator or social butterfly.

The Desktop app ... ;O)

Remote desktop Windows. I connected to my work network in Windows 8 desktop and then bring up Remote Desktop Windows panel to connect to my PC at work.

I installed iHeart and Tunein Radio apps. iHeart is more tablet like while Tunein needs some work to make it more simple to navigate. But I love the idea of having my favorite tablet apps on my Windows 8 laptop. I also like that they are on the Start screen.
