Hi i was trying to back up some of my tv collection dvds, and I haven't done this in quite a while. I remembered dvdshrink being good cuz it'd also shrink the files so they'd fit on a single layer dvd disc. Unfortunately though upon reading up n trying it out, dvdshrinks been un-updated for a number of years now n is a dead project. It also wouldn't work on the tv box set i was trying due to some type of encryption or another. So i was wondering if there was any comparable software that would work, that is preferrably free?

DVD Shrink still works as designed, meaning shrinking/compacting files and not bothering with Encryption/Decryption.

Discussion of decryption of commercial media contents is going against NBR forum rules, I am afraid.

    cheers ...

okay well i havent used it in a while or tried it in a while. All i remember is it used 2 work without issue or warnings or problems with my old dvds, but it does now. Maybe it's just the 1 tv show im trying to do isn't cooperative. Thanks

dvdfab is the best. i used shrink for a long time, but am now a diehard dvdfab user. they have a trial version, but i went on to purchase the full version (platinum). for me it was money well spent.

i dont even use shrink anymore now that I bought dvdfab. i think the trial version of fab wont shrink DVD9 to DVD5 size so I guess you could use shrink to do that part. I like the fact that dvdfab is fully automated for the shrinking part and then burning part.

ive been testing dvdfab and i like it. i still like anydvd and clonedvd2 better. dvdfab has had some quirks. and its burned a couple discs my dvd player did not like at all where i burned the same discs from the same originals on the same pc using the same drive (you get the idea) and they play perfect on the same dvd player. i know dvdfab uses the vso burning engine. so what makes this most odd is i also use convertxtodvd which IS a vso product and uses the vso engine and ive never had this issue for a single disc with convertxtodvd every disc it burns plays fine.

overall i like dvdfab but i have to say clonedvd2 is much more user freindly and simply if you are not sure of the options. but on the other hand dvdfab offers more options than clonedvd2 does.
