I want to backup dvds I own (which is fully legal). What is the best software ? I have dvdshrink, but I recall reading about some other software which did a better job of encoding (took much longer tho), unfortunately I seem to have lost that link.

For backing up all your menus along with the movie itself i would say that the combination of DVD Decrypter (to deCCS the movie files) and DVDShrink (to compress the video to fit a single layer disk) works the best in my opinion. I have also tried nero recode to burn .avi files to dvd and that seems to work good as well.

However i think i have found the program your looking for. I believe its called DVDRebuilder.

Decrypter and Shrink are no longer being developed or maintained. These days, most people I know recommend the combination of AnyDVD (decryption) and CloneDVD (shrinking).

Both apps are available from SlySoft.

If you are doing copy-to-copy, then I would highly recommend CloneDVD 2 + AnyDVD. You get a variety of options; ex. cutting out previews, going straight to title menu, etc. It's very handy and works great.

Yeah, by 'RipIt4Me' I meant RipIt4Me, DVDDecrypter, FixVTS and DVDShrink. If you search around, especially on some of the Video forums, you'll find them as a package.
