Hiyas!
My Pictures is really getting overcrowded, and I'm about to go on vacation and come back with more pictures, so I need help! Something that'll keep them neat, in albums or whatever these things do, and has a really nice and cute interface. Also, since I have a couple of short videos - MOVs and AVIs - so it'd be great if it could keep those organized together with the photos, since they should be together chronologically.
It would be especially nice if it has skins... Because a cute user interface is very important. So, what's the best thing for a PC? I don't mind spending a couple bucks, as long as it's worth it - with so much free software that does that out there! Thanks all!

Picasa2, that's the best thing to be programmed since sliced bread. It is made by google and it is free. But if you want something a little more bloated and not free, you could try Photshop Elements. Picasa can also play MOV files not sure about AVI's but I bet you it can and it keeps things very organized and in neat folders, it is linked to your gmail account, if you have one, burn backup cd/dvd's for you and keeps a nice timeline, can make minor edits that are reversable and best of all it is free. It is just about perfect.

Hello
Go for ACDSEE 8.0 .you don't get disappointed am using it in past 4 years and I really love it. The new version also has a media package which you can create VCD or Videos using your photos.
Check here: www.acdsee.com

If your going to pay ACDSEE, if you don't want to pay then Picasa or even Windows Explorer.. I personally would not pay for a program like this though..

Hi there,
I do not want to hijack this thread, but I have a question that is very much related. I also want to be able to effectively manage my pictures, but I have two very specific concerns also:
1) I want to be able to browse pictures on a folder hierarchy (i.e. as in Explorer). Some programs only allow browsing by virtual albums in a proprietary format (such as Apple iPhoto) and if you switch later on you loose the album information.
2) I want to be able to produce nice picture books (as in real printed ones). I know the new iPhoto has this option (you can even send them to be printed and bound online), but is there an equivalent in the Windows world? A nice complement of stylish picturebook templates is of course required. -
You guys might also consider posting on our camera site, which might be a better fit for this. www.digitalcamerareview.com

You guys/girls should really try out Picasa and www.digitalcamerareview.com. Both are great. Ben over there at www.digitalcamerareview.com knows a lot about this stuff and answers and checks every single thread to the best of his knowledge.
And about Picasa, it seems Picasa does almost everything you guys/girls have asked about. You can browse in a sort of hierarchyand timeline, you can create collage of pictures or even a film sheet or pictures. I'm not sure of the extent of it creating picture books, but I haven't went in depth with every single aspect of it. -
One major drawback to Picasa is that it does save edits made to a picture thru' picasa. It starts its own edit folder i believe.

@arevee,
is it possible to delete these file's?
And what is the problem with these file's.
I want to try Picasa but i don't want trouble on my computer. -
a MAC laptop running OS X would be a pretty nice deal too...has some great 'features' as I discovered some days back

U won't have any trouble. Picasa does not contain any shareware. No ads, or trojans or anything. U can always uninstall it if u don't need it.
Best photo organizer?
