What does everything think is the best software for music, creating playlists and organizing all of your songs?

    iTunes is the best.

+ It's got the easiest playlist creation. You don't have to save playlists manually, it will do that for you.
+ It organizes your library very well (especially if you do your tags correctly) so you can use the browser to quickly get to certain albums, genres, or artists.
+ Share music over a network for media streaming (and with myTunes, you can download songs from other computers on the network)
+ Automatically converts WMA to MP3 or AAC.
+ Allows you to create custom equalizers and save many of your own configurations.
+ Awesome, clean, and easy-to-use interface
    + Good CD ripping
+ Can also play QuickTime video files
    + Realtime searching
+ Built-in radio and music store

    - Can take a lot of resources
    - WMAs must be converted (not good if you have a ton of WMAs and don't have time to let it convert)

    I love iTunes.

If you want software to organize all your music, WinAMP may not do it. I personally like WinAMP for all my music playback, but I like it because it's simple, yet feature loaded. For playback, play list creation & organization of your music, I hear MusicMatch is another good program.

Yea something simple would also be good for me as well. Is that progam you mentioned simple and free? Does WinAmp let you do playlists?

WinAMP does come in 2 different flavors, 1 free with limited options and another fully loaded version, but you have to pay for it. The free version just won't allow you to rip/encode MP3's and burn audio CD's at 48X speeds (will only burn at 2X).

Yes, it also allows you to create play lists.

Here's the link to the version comparison.

Going to download it and check it out. When you import a whole file of songs, if you allready have the song in the playlist will it reimport it again?

Winamp. In fact, winamp 2.91. I've found with experience that upgrading to the latest version is not always a good idea. I like my programs to be simple, and mind their own god damn business. It's like if you ask me what video player is my favorite, nothing can beat that old simple no nonsense window media player 6, before all the system scanning to build library and internet filename fetching and all that crap came along. I just want a player to play my video, period, not one that doubles as a housewife and remote controls a satellite that can scratch my ass from space with a laser beam and vibrates to pleasure me sexually.

It all depends on what you want to do with your music. If your a true music enthusiast then definitely foobar2000. When I first used Winamp, I never thought I would ever switch away from that player, but I tried foobar2000 (even though it took an incredible amount of time to learn how to use this fully) it was definitely worth it. I seriously think it is the best thing out there, everything is like customizable, the built-in mass tagging/moving is beyond amazing! You can write/download/ask for scripts etc, that can practically sort out your entire music collection for you.

Spare Tire, I hear you. I recently upgraded from Winamp 2.91 to 5.09lite. It's barely a 600k download and retains all the simplicity of its version 2 counterpart!

The other one I use is MusicMatch. Just because it came loaded with my system, but more and more I'm getting fed up with it telling me to upgrade to pro version and pay.
