Adobe Acrobat basically doesn't support touch; it's the worst program I've found in Win 8 for touch support. Microsoft's preinstalled PDF viewer has wonderful touch controls, but can only open one document at a time, and it's in metro which isn't great for quick-switching between MS Office documents and PDF documents while working.

Are there any options out there that (1) have good touch control, but (2) can display multiple PDFs at once, preferably on the desktop instead of in metro?

Here it comes....every program now has to be tough sensitive because of win 8. Bummer.

Thanks for the totally unhelpful "sky is falling" response. I just want one good touch-sensitive PDF viewer for the desktop; I'm not asking that every program be touch-sensitive.

PDF Touch is a good Modern UI Reader for both Touch and Digitizer...if you want a desktop app, PDF Annotator but it is pricey...

Does PDF Touch allow for multiple PDFs to be open at once (tabbed or some sort of thing)? That's the one deal-breaker for me with Microsoft's Reader.

Nope...one at a time, PDF Annotator has a tabbed interface. I use it on my Windows 8 Enterprise Slate, I use PDF Touch on my RT Device or I sometimes I use Word 2013 or OneNote 2013...
