Hey everyone, I am back again, with just a quick question. I have had PowerDirector 8 installed on my ridiculously underpowered Dell Inspiron 6000, and never gave much thought to its performance. The question I have is, is there a better video editing software that would run on my machine? Not only in performance of running and editing videos, but in the quality of the software itself. I would also like to know how well PowerDirector 9 would run on my machine, if at all. Thanks for the help!

i have used both power director 8 and 9. the big benefit of 9 is it is 64bit.if you have more than 4gb of ram and do a lot of hd video editing then pd9 could be a worthwhile upgrade for you. afaik, pd9 also seems to preview clips much faster than pd8 but that could also be attributable to my newer laptop.
pd8 is a good editor, as long as youve patched it up with updates.
you will not find a more powerful or easier to use editor at its price range.
you could also try muvee reveal. its not as powerful and customizable as pd8 or 9 but it makes videos automatically and fast too.could be a better match for your underpowered laptop :)

    good luck

@trvelbug, thanks for the only reply I have gotten so far. No one else so far has replied, I was beginning to lose hope! I know that my laptop is ridiculously underpowered, hoping to upgrade to the Dell 1545 whatever. Muvee Reveal? Never heard of it, I'll go Google it. :3 PowerDirector 8 I have liked a lot so far, seems to run fluently on my machine, could be a little snappier. Thanks again!

I heard Sony Vegas 9 or 10 are good for video editing paired with photoshop and after effects it could do you well. I honestly don't know how taxing it is though, if anyone knows if it can run on that laptop it could perhaps help him.

I used Sony Vegas Pro 8 on my old desktop and it ran realy well even though the resources were low.

used pinnacle in the past but as travelbug suggests cyberlink 8 or 9 is the way to go.
if you are running 32bit then 8 is the way to go. 9 is great if your running 64bit
im running the media suite 8 which has everything you will ever need but i cant find a trial link but heres the trial of power director 9

as others have suggested you may wanna give sony vegas a try as i know they have a trial download for that.
but be forewarned, sony vegas is not an easy program. ive used it before and it seems to use the least amount of resources from all the other nle's ive tried, but the interface was so unwieldy.
imho powerdirector will give you the best combination of power, price and ease of use.
