Hi all, I have a HP notebook with a glossy screen. I have fingerprint smudges on it. What is the best thing to clean it with? Also would using compressed air and shooting it at the screen to remove the dust ruin my monitor?
    thanks!

ops wrong forum i think. >.>

Do not spray compressed air on your screen. Use a microfiber cloth. Dampen for the hard to get spots and buff with the dry side. Do NOT press very hard.

Most likely. If its the grey square one, that works fine. I used that one to clean mine until I bought a bigger one.

get the micrifober lens cleaning cloth made by 3M from the Wal-Mart optical center. the 3M cloths are the best - I use them for my camera lenses and they rock. when they get grubby, wash them with your whites lol

ps: im partial to the blue ones lol

Dook, lol youre killing me with your graphics. pls stop, i cant breathe

I've used various lens cleaning solutions for glasses along with a microfiber cloth. The solutions are formulated for various lens coatings so I assume they are safe. I've used that combo probably at least 100 times on my glossy dell with no noticeable side affects.

I've used microfibre cloths in the past and they seem to work the best. Paper towels always leave residue or lint behind. Do not press hard on the screen, but rather apply lite pressure with long vertical or horizontal strokes for best results.

    1. I don't understand how people say papertowels work. They sctach the screen, especially glossy ones. Period.

    2. The best way it the combo method of a damp and dry one. You need 2 microfiber cloths. Soak one, and wring it out. Wipe the screen, then use the dry one and buff it. This is the best way for all types of things, even the case, keyboard, mouse, etc.

    3. Paper towels don't work.

Consult the 4 part cleaning guide - which will show why the cheap crap you buy at a place like walmart is a waste of money. See the links in my signature.

. Why are you so quick at writing off other's suggestions?
. I used it (and still using it), it works for me, and i can safely say that after many laptops lcds clean with (soft) papertowel added with a little bit of water (as posted), none of my lcds have yet experienced any adverse "damages"

    cheers ...

I completely agree. A simple damp microfiber towel is all I use.
