Situation:
Currently, I have a laptop with Office 2003 Pro installed (standalone shrinkwrap).
I also have Office Home/Student (license up to 3 machines) for other desktop.
I am planning to buy a new laptop and would like to transfer my existing Office 2003 Pro license to it.
However, I do plan to use the old laptop in the bedroom so want to put the neutered Office Home/Student version on it.
To summarize, this is what I want to do:
Old Laptop: Office 2003 Pro >>>>> Office Home/Student (using 2nd license)
New Laptop: Nothing >>>>> Office 2003 Pro
Desktop: Office Home/Student (no change)
While searching, I found this thread: Transfer Office?
... which indicates it is OK for me to transfer the Office Pro license from one computer to another.
However, it implies that I have to do a FULL uninstall from the old laptop before setting up the new laptop. Since I do want to continue to have Office (but not the full Professional version) on my old laptop and I have a bunch of files/preferences/settings/etc pre-existing, is there an easier way to do the license transfers than (1) doing full uninstall of Office Pro on the old laptop, then (2) doing full install of Office Home/Student on the old laptop? i.e. is there some way to just selectively uninstall the elements in Pro but not in Home/Student (e.g. Access) and leave everything else alone?
Any suggestions/tips on the least painful way to achieve this migration would be appreciated. I do want to maintain compliance with the licenses, just trying to make the migration process as easy as possible.
Thanks in advance.

Usually the regular uninstall will still keep your settings and such, though I'm not 100% sure about this.
Best way to transfer Office??
