I need to transfer some files from my old desktop to my new laptop. The files are fairly large 3gig or so, and I tried to transfer them using AIM (2 different accounts). The transfers terminate after 200MB or so, is there another program that would allow me to electronically transfer the data from one pc to another?

well, if you've got them handy, smart/flash drive are quite handy. I've got a 1GB drive that I use all the time. I simply drag and drop the files I want onto the smart drive, remove the drive, take it to the computer i wnat to transfer the files to, insert the drive, and cut, and paste the files in the lacation of choice.

Can't you use a ether cable to set up a network btwn the two? That would be the easiest way and much faster.

Aren't they on the same network, plugged into the same router? Can't you just enable Windows file sharing? AIM sends the file over the internet... you don't need to do that. That'll make it go slow as heck.

Ahh, yea I'm an idiot. Thanks Pita, I'll enable windows file sharing. I didn't want to search for an ethernet chord and my flash drive is only 1GB. Thanks.

Network cable of if you have a flash drive/ipod/mp3 player. Now the question from me is, is there a program which automatically syncs a folder to another folder whenever the main computer recognizes another computer?
