Hi
I just came across a sound booster tool that does an incrdible job on my Vaio SZ. It's meant for Toshiba Notebooks but works on others too if they have a supported sound chip. These are:
ac97intc - Intel® 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Audiocontroller
aeaudio - Analog Devices AC'97
AEAudioService - Andrea Audio
allegro - ESS Allegro PCI Audio (WDM)
ALCXWDM - Realtek AC'97 Audio
cs429x - Cirrus Logic Crystal WDM Audio Codec
es1969 - ESS ES1969
IntcAzAudAddService - RealTek HD
maestro - ESS Maestro
smwdm - SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
stac97 - Sigmatel STAC 9750 AC97, Sigmatel C-Major Audio
sthda - SigmaTel HDA
VIAudio - VIA Technologies Implended Audio in the Southbridge VT8237
WDM_YAMAHAAC97 - Yamaha AC97
Download it here: http://sn0wl.laptopvideo2go.com/files/tvs10312.zip
Install it, reboot and you'll get a new tray icon. You can do incredible things with the small notebook speakers. I was shocked how good they can sound. And it works everywhere (games, media players etc)!

Every speaker. You can set different settings for internal, external, open type headphones and closes type headphones and switch em with a right click on the tray icon. If you got good external speakers the effect is not as huge though as with the laptop ones. The tool boosts them the most.
You may know those effect when you used WMP with activated SRS WOW etc. That tool here does the same, but for every single program there is. It's not limited to a media player. And you can set it up even more detailed than the SRS WOW in WMP.
I found pretty good settings and if I play some audio and switch the tool on and off and back on the difference is -
Sounds like a global equalizer with presets and some effects.

Can I use this software on my Dell 700m?

Sounds pretty cool, might give it a go, I have an ESS Maestro. -
weird, i tried to extract it and my norton antivirus caught it , recognized as trojan and remove it...
-
This piece of software was discussed a couple weeks ago. It does seem to work well on quite a few computers, and especially Dells, even though it was made for Toshiba notebooks. It does a great job of boosting sounds quality, and I wouldn't run my e1705 without it!

It does indeed work great on the Samsung of my wife which has an ESS Allegro and on my SZ which has the SigmaTel HDA. By the way, this file is not a virus/trojan. I checked it myself with Kaspersky/McAfee/BitDefender and the source is very reliable. Must be a Norton false alarm, wouldnt be the first time would it.

thanx alot man for the program it really boosted the quality and the volume of my laptop (dell inspiron 6400) speakers and headphones. Make sure after u install it to right click the tray icon > settings > Open Detail Setting > Option > Enable the TruSurrond XT and the WOW HD. This option will give u a increadible boost. I prefer choosing "The TruSurrond XT function is always used" instead of both WOW and TruSurrond together.

it wont work on my Laptop.... after i install it i get a beeping/cracking sound everytime i try to run an audio file
i have a Realtek HD sound card...why wont it work??? -
I already have a toshiba notebook, and i must admit that the tool does work very well. I was quite impressed by the sound quality i got from my little laptop speakers. It is very customiseable. There is a huge difference when you turn it on/off.
SRS makes good stuff. I have it on my MPIO mp3 player, and it gives great sound there too. I get good bass out of the standard earbuds on it. -
Gidday guys.
I downloaded the file onto a thumb drive, then installed it on my ASUS W3J. Only problem is, when I right click on the Tray icon in the Start menu, it does not give me Settings as an option. I am buggered if I can get it to do anything, even going thru All Programs etc. What have I done wrong? -
why cant it work on my lappie???
i have a HD sound card! -
THis application ruins my OS.... and i have completely reinstall my OS>.... after installation my speaker was not anymore WORKING!
BE CAREFUL WITH THIS PROGRAM! -

@qohelet: Never heard of that issue. You really must have done something wrong here. This is not a tool that messes with the OS or burries itself deep in the OS. It's simple to remove and caued no troubles wherever I tried it. Sure you've got a supported soundchip.
@deedeeman: Sure you went into the advanced settings and set TruSourround to "on". Right after the insallation the settings are somewhat suboptimal, the ESS Allegro of my wife causes the same strange noises until I hat switched to TruSurround or WOWHD. Just don't set it to "circle surround"! That causes that effect. -
I also have a Realtek HD sound card and I get the exact same problem as Deedeeman regardless of what I do to the settings. It seems that this driver is not compatible with all Realtek HD sound cards.
-
Do the Asus W3v and W3j use the same sound card? I was looking for a way to boost the volume a bit on my W3j (which I see wettek is having trouble with), but my roommate's W3v (which I sold him) is even worse. It looks like there are different drivers for the W3v and W3j, so I'm wondering if this will work for the W3v even if it doesn't with the W3j?

The program does not work on a RealTek HD I just tried it on my desktop.

It didn't work on my HP, I have a soundmax. I had to reboot after installation, then when it booted back up it came up w/ the blue screen and rebooted, I had to go into safe mode and uninstall it or it would've done an endless cycle of rebooting.
-
Ok i installed this and rebooted.....it got all the way to the welcome screen then the screen went blue and said there was an error and it had to do with TVS.sys which is this file.....i ended up booting in safe mode and having to uninstalling it there....I would like to warn ppl that dont have a Toshiba or if u have the slightest doubt that one of those cards up there isnt urs then dont install.

How does this program compare to the sony sound reality?
-
Private-Cowboy Notebook Consultant
They are totally different. The sound reality does not offer any sound enhancements, only volume and bass/treble control. It's like an enhanced sound setting util. This here provides a real enhancement - at least it does on the ESS Allegro and the SigmaTel HDA I tested it with.
-
darn, too bad that i can't figure out what kind of sound card i have and that the other HP user in this thread had a problem with it.
-
Thanks for mentioning this program. I can't believe the difference it makes when I compare the sounds on my SZ, it's incredible! The closed type headphone preset with TrueSurroundXT (not WOW HD) produced the best sound IMO.
If you have trouble running this program you ought to post a reply in this thread. Maybe they can help you out. -
i cant run the software, when i click on the program nothing happens
-
the link is dead. Would anyone happen to have an alternate link?
thanks! -
-
perfect, thanks!
-
XP only... bummer.
