    Better spell-check add-on than ispell for IE8?

Is there a better spell-check add-on for IE8 than ispell.

I type dyslexically for some reason (I don't read or handwrite that way) and I am frequently typing letters of words out of order throughout my posts.

But ieSpell is not very good at suggesting alternatives. For example, i often type "hte" for "the" and ieSpell offers dozens of alternative spellings except the word "the" or at least after the firs 20 suggestions, "the" still hasn't come up as an option.

I also often hit the ";" key instead of the " ' " key as in "doesn;t" but ispell does not offer a correction, it just says it doesn't recognize "doesn". I have to stop ispell, go in and make the correction -- and then start ispell all over again -- which includes stopping at all the words I say to ignore -- which is a lot of them.

The one that bugs me the most is when I mistype "which", ie., "whihc" iespell's first offering is a "Whig" an 1800's political party that lasted about 50 years and has minor historical significance.

Now what are the odds that someone who types "whihc" means this hardly heard of Whig party?

    The program is a PIA.

I use Outlook at work and its spell-check is vastly superior -- I almost never encounter any of these or any other problems. The only time it does not recognize words is when they are truly unfamiliar -- like acronyms.

So now I have written my rant --

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try Firefox, the built in spell check is very good. The suggested corrections are usually spot on too.

I tried the words you are having problems with and it picks it up fine in FF. If you want to add an unrecognized word to the list, its just a right click > Add to dictionary.

Try using Firefox in forums for a week or so...

But the request was for a spell check for IE8! Yes, Firefox has a spell check, but what about a spell check that is compatible with IE8, for those of us who would strongly prefer to stay with IE8.

Try tinySpell. It adds spell check system wide, including IE8 and many other programs. I don't know how the dictionary compares to the one in IESpell (ie will it offer "which" for "whihc" instead of "Whig").

Here is a quick tutorial on setting it up and customizing it.

    wordweb, TheSage, tinyspell, etc, etc.

Opera has a nice internal spellchecker based on tinyspell/aspell.
