Vista to Win7 upgrade is clean. As long as your registry is not corrupted and you don't have trash application in Vista, the upgrade should feel like a new clean install.

In any case, yes you can do a clean install of Win7 on Vista id you go down in edition. Let's say you have Vista Ultimate and you want to put Win7 Home premium or Professional, a clean install would be required.

Also, if you have a Vista 32-bit and you want to put Win7 64-bit because you want to take the full advantage of your system and enjoy a nice 10-15% increase (at the worst case) in performance, then a clean install would be needed as you can't upgrade form a 32-bit OS.

    That is expected.
    - For one we are in a recession and companies don't want to spend money.
    - The person (IT Manager) of the company that says "Ok let's do it" and is up having problems with the company software, he will be ultimately be responsible and be fired... it's not the time to take risks.
    - Then you have "company example". Many companies look what the bigger companies does. If Intel (random example) decides to switch to Win7, the smaller companies - even thus there field is a different world- will adapt to Win7.
    - Slow adoption. The answer is "No" and always be "No" for IT managers to adapt a new OS until: a) several month has passed and home user tested it and no big problem to report. (most will wait for SP1) b) If 'a' passes, then they will start testing their software in Win7 deeply, than start a test section of each department where several employees will test Win7 and if all is good, it will be adapted.

Like all Windows. Win7 will be be adapted mid/end of it's life. And now because of the recession it will be really the end of life of Win7. This is my predictions. But this time, Win7 will be adapted for SURE. Because, employees will feel like they are not cared about and productivity will be reduced. Just the fact that employees will go and say "Pff what is this place, we still Windows 2000/XP when Win7 is out and runs great at home and everyone says it's great... XP was out since 2001, COME ON!", will reduce employee morals. A study was done by IBM, many many years back, in the early days in computing. IBM was skim on money and didn't even invested to change light bulb in buildings... IBM was hiring more and more employees and could not get why other smaller size companies where more productive then them, despite having way more employees. After several methods of trying to increase productivity which all failed, IBM decided to invest money to the employees to increase there moral, and not show that they are in a dead end job. They did this by updating employees stations, changing the light bulb when needed, putting proper lighting, doing activities with the employees, reduce the bureaucracy, put programs in place to allow employees to get promoted to different departments. This ended up increasing the productivity of the company above their expectation.

True, so true. Right now only reason a company would upgrade from XP to Vista or 7 is if there is a compelling cost savings reason. I don't see Vista or 7 offering that advantage for most companies.

Goodbytes - Very True. Moral is the most important thing in all companies yet they don't invest in it, currently the company I work for hires and hires yet cuts the hours to a bare minimum that they have to give out. In fact it's so pathetic because of the economy people are holding onto less then 10 hours a week at the lowest rate of pay the company has to give. When the economy gets better, as it appears everywhere but the US ( excluding some Job fields in the US which are not really being hit by the economy) I think most will flea these jobs and they will be left high and dry as there will be such a hiring influx in no matter what type of field that as long as you know what your applying for you'll get hired, NOT who you know but WHAT YOU KNOW.
