Update that adds telemetry points to consent.exe in Windows 8.1 and Windows 7
https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/kb/3075249
Seem like there were new updates recently and one of them is KB3075249. If you don't like the idea of Micro$h4ft collecting data about UAC, then uninstall this update and hide it when it appears again in the Windows bugdates.

Mine was not installed yet, so I just hid it for now.

Man. The whole issue with this is for now everyone has an eye on what updates to install or not install, but in a year when you go to do a fresh install and 150 updates are shoved down your throat you may or may not have the whole list of updates to disable.

I was only confirming that its listed as a optional update like the article says and its not with the other windows updates, which is another reason why noone shouldnt install any of the optional updates without knowing what it does. Btw i already uninstalled the updates that enables the Win10 notifications thanks to the OPSpartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Here is a list of the updates I hide:
KB2505438
KB2670838 - Windows 7 Only (breaks AERO functionality and gives you blurry fonts on some websites)
KB2952664
KB2976978 - Windows 8 only
KB3021917
KB3035583
KB3075249 -

I had KB2976978 on my Windows 8.1, I just uninstalled it, and then did an new update check and it showed up in the important updates, and not in the optional one.
Microsoft is doing my head in, I went back to 8.1 to get away from Win10 and it`s craziness.
I think i will watch this thread.

Thanks for the heads-up @Matrix Leader. KB3075249 is an optional update on my W7 Pro and I have hidden it.

I see you removed the evil KB2670838 Metro destroying/font destroying update
Great!

But wait, this update says "Install this update to resolve issues in Windows".
What is broke in Windows 7 that this "update" is fixing?
I really hate how MS updates are intentionally vague and really tell you nothing about what its doing.

Yes the issue is that without installing it they cannot spy on you to know the UAC behavior:

Fantastic link, one to watch from now on
Previously I have used random sites to understand what each Hotfix actually meant, and was able to save myself from a few real pieces of work (unfortunately I did install the Hotfix for win10 upgrades, but luckily my laziness to setup a whole new OS intervened and I saved myself from a world of hurt ) -

Well I did install it regardless but I see how it goes...I have a image of prior before this and the current updates are so I can wipe clean and redo.

how will you see how it goes? it's all in the background sending whatever UAC prompts you get to Micro$h4ft -

hmm....I regularly updated my hosts file so if they got any adware links trying to get me to their sites most likely it goes to "NULL" results. I edit my PC hosts file so if they are trying to get info it won't work as the hosts blocks sites unwanted sites already that are not approved by my hosts file. There going to shaft us one way or another regardless of what we do the outcome M$$ still owns the RIGHTS to the Windows O/S.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
I think if they just would have placed an option to report check box in the UAC dialog box this would have been received allot better.

That's my motto for the day.... "It's to easy" -
KB3080149
"Update for customer experience and diagnostic telemetry"
Another optional "update" which will let Big Brother spy on you. -
these are optional updates that i block nonetheless.

Editing the host file seems like a reasonable approach to protecting your privacy, but then again...
From the gHacks article:
http://www.ghacks.net/2015/08/28/microsoft-intensifies-data-collection-on-windows-7-and-8-systems/
" Microsoft lists two host names in KB3068708 that data is received from and sent to:
- vortex-win.data.microsoft.com
- settings-win.data.microsoft.com
" the Hosts file is bypassed automatically" Wow, really?
I just want to play PC games in Windows (games. game modding, etc), that's all, but I have to employ this crazy anti-virus/anti-malware/anti-PUP/anti-whatever to mitigate all sorts of nasty behavior, it's such a pain in the.... Now this?
This is why I dual boot. Linux (ubuntu with xfce, compiz, and cairo-dock (my perfect desktop)) for everything, but gaming. Windows, simply for games.
Beware of new update KB3075249!!
