I believe my mothers desktop is infected. (Windows XP)

    1. Her security suite keeps detecting adware (Adware.Win32.Coupons) and everytime I attempt to quarentine it tells me it has done so successfully, but then several hours later it detects it again and it's an endless cycle.

    2. ctfmon.exe Her security sweet also informs that this process is running in the backround. From what I have read this is a virus, adware, spyware, trojan free program as long as it is located in the system32 folder, which it is. Although after doing a search of the C drive I found it in two other places: C:\i386, and C:\Windows\Prefetch. What to do?

    3. Cannot connect to the internet. I have just set up my new router which the desktop and my Xbox 360 are wired to, and my notebook wirelessly. The 360 and my notebook connect to the internet flawlessly, while the desktop eternally searches for the networks IP address. I have pretty much ruled this out as a router problem because the 360 works, and when I hook the computer straight up to the modem it still won't go, but I am a networking noob so...

    4. Cannot do a system restore. I have tried multiple dates, but everytime I get a message telling me the OS cannot retore to that date.

And to top it all off, as I was writing this the desktops security suite also detected riskware! ROFLMFAO! OMFG!

Any help here would be extremely appreciated. If it comes down to it I could pull out the Windows reinstall cd, but I would like to avoid that if possible because there is 2 years of data on this machine.
