I just notice there are hidden boxes on the bottom/middle of the picture on their search engine main page. They offer explaination of the picture they used.

Does it seem like BING is crap for technical assistance searches for anyone else? Maybe I just don't have the hang of it yet, but I rarely get useful information from Bing.

Why did they call it "Bing"? Just sounds like a substitute for a swear word. "Oh Bing it!"

why did they call it that way?
    easy to remember
    short domain name
not very clumpsy (like if you would register yummia.com, or waggl.com or what ever..)

you can use it as noun and verb.

quite a good choice actually, if you remember how much domains just get registered for the fun of it, a.k.a. finding a fresh, short, good name nowadays that's free is very hard.

No, seriously dude, google them: http://www.google.de/search?q=bing+image+archive&btnI=745.

Brings you to an archive where you get all bing images in a calendar view. If you click an image, you will get additional information on the copyright of it (which you can then use to search for a possible higher resolution version to use it as a wallpaper), and for some images the hotspots the image had when it was used on the bing homepage.

Every time I hear "bing" I remember Chandler Bing, suffice it to say it's not a welcomed memory.

Google is a lot more powerful and versatile than Bing.... guess Bing wins on the pretty picture front though. Anywho.

I still don't see why Bing.com is sufficient as a search engine. What makes it so good? In the meantime, I'll stick with Google.

Might not have been free. Companies spend ridiculous sums of money buying a domain name from someone else all the time; the company I work for now paid £20,000 for a domain name because someone else had it already and we wanted it.

It's going to be a serious uphill struggle, but me personally I hope it takes off; if for nothing else than someone else in the market place other than google for PPC. Might make them more competitive on their pricing and more flexible on some of their policies. Wishful thinking...!
