Ok. Im trying to run a game of mine. But when i start it it says Binkw32.dll not found or is missing. So i went and downloaded Binkw32.dll. I dont know where to put it though. I tried C/Windows and C/Windows/System32. But then i get this message: _BinkRegisterFrameBuffers@8 could not be located in the dynamic link mibrary binkw32.dll. So am i placing it in the wrong place? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: THis is occuring when trying to run some other applications also.

I searched for this on my HDD, and found in both my XP and Vista install.. (Quite an old file..!!)

    In the Windows/System folder

Try to paste it there and do a restart, and see if remains there..!!

    Hope it helps.... :p

    Vista
    BINK.jpg

    XP
    BINK2.jpg

Or try to re-install the game....and it should install the DLL and place it in that folder..!!

You can't move your game-starting file from its original folder. So to play it, put the file back into its folder, not in the desktop, and try running it again.

If it still didn't work; you still did not put it in the right game folder. Try again.

It is an old file... I think that the Bink codec is older than the Smacker codec which came from the same company... and smacker is installed on my G-NOME game from 1997!

Unfortunately, I tried to do this with my SMACKW32.dll (put it into windows\system) to fix G-NOME's problem of not playing the smacker-formatted video cutscenes and it didn't help. I'm trying to find a fix for this problem

Anyway, it is quite an old file indeed.

Hmm....I guess it may need some modification in the registry so as to get recognised, simple copy/paste might not be a proper solution for DLLs..!!

And yeah, I guess it is installed due to AOE 2 Conquerors on my system.. :D
