BlackBerry Blend is a new application which enables you to access your BlackBerry Smartphone from your computer, check your emails, calendar, manage your contacts, and much more. It allows for seamless integration between your PC, BlackBerry, or even PlayBook.

This has been a long awaited feature and has finally come to BlackBerry users.

    ==================================================================
No wires, no saving to a cloud, no transferring between devices. It’s just there.

On any given day, you move between your computer, tablet and smartphone to accomplish various tasks, but these devices are not integrated. This leads to lost productivity each time you switch from one device to the other. Until now.
BlackBerry ® Blend is software you can download for your computer and tablet that seamlessly brings messaging and content that’s on your BlackBerry smartphone to your computer and tablet.

I installed it mate, but I need OS 10.3 in order to actually use is so you have 2 choices:

    1) wait for 3 more months till RIM updates the Q10/!5 to OS 10.3.1

    2) Install the latest leaked OS (make sure you backup your BB first)

    looks very elegant man.....

ill buy it once it comes down in price to $300 USD, that's what I did with my Q10, that also gives RIM to polish up their OS with some updates ;)

I actually like the Passport's bigger keyboard and bigger screen. BlackBerry is for people who want to get work done, have a 2 day battery life, and be unique

I have no time to play games or download apps on my phone

speaking of apps, when I switched to iPhone and Android, yes I was impressed with the 3rd party apps, they are of higher quality and the library is big, I bought many apps, but come think of it, never used a single one, just wanted to have them for the sake of having a complete phone.

    on to some drooling mate....

US is always the cheapest, but only because they don't add taxes to the price.

In the mean time, I'm just gonna grab the Q10 :D.

ive heard Dubai is a bit pricey.

i got the Q10 free in the end but had to take out a 2 year contract at £33 a month so thats £792 over 2 years (with health service discount £624) so it would be still cheaper buying it outright.
i do get unlimited calls, text and 1gb data but i dont use it much.

i did originally get the samsung S4 but put it back in its box within 1 hour and changed it the next day.

oh well, 1 year more until upgrade :)

Hopefully my Z10 will get 10.3.1 soon enough. Blend looks pretty slick, replying to SMS and BBM on the desktop is pretty neat.

Indeed, the most important thing for me is the ability to be able ot edit my contacts from my computer as I have like 300 contacts which I need to edit! Can't wait for 10.3.1 on my Q10!

I loaded the latest leak version the other day but wasn't very happy, it worked great at first, then I started having connectivity issues like the SMSes won't even go through, I guess since it wasn't approved by my carrier, that radio file of that leaked OS wasn't working very well in Dubai.

I am in the market for a Q10 as well. I've owned an 8900 and a 9870 and they both worked out well. In the meantime I have kept the 9870 as a backup phone and currently am using a Nokia Lumia 521 (temp unit) until I save up enough for a Q10. The Lumia 521 was dirt cheap and works fine for my uses but I miss a physical keyboard and only use a handful of apps anyway :)

Do be careful. I hear that a lot of Q10 units suffer from double typing issues. That's the main reason why I still haven't bought it.

exactly why ive stuck with blackberry, a real keyboard.
the Q10 does take a while to get used too as there is no menu/option button as most controls are done using touch screen.

i previously had a 9800 torch which was a great phone.

    i spoke too soon.
had an absolute nightmare day with phone so far.
ive been onto remote live chat for last 3 hours.

connected yesterday to bb link on computer so as to transfer a large video from phone. update software advised so downloaded. then went out.
today when i checked my phone it has a red box saying enter password. only 10 attempts and then it will wipe the phone memory.
no paswords work anymore and not even the rep can do anything remotely. ive got 1 attempts left and then i lose everything.

    not a happy bunny :(

When you enter your password and are sure it's right yet it isn't accepting it, that means one out of 3 things:

    1) you do not have a data package so when you enter the password, it isn't able to actually verify it with anything really since it cannot connect.

    2) you are in a place with a poor network connection thus the above still applies even if you have a data plan

    3) you do not have a data plan, and to add insult to injury, you are NOT connected through WiFi! you need to connect to a WIFI network at least in order to verify your password.

thanks for the tips mate. really appreciate it.
just gutted ive lost all callender entrys, contacts phone numbers etc

well sadly it wasnt any of them 3 problems.
got monthly contract with unlimited calls,txt,1gb data which resets on my bill date 24th of every month and it was only showing 89mb used yesterday.

signal at home is always full strength and never had a problem with that.

    wifi was on.

vodafone tech even transfered me to rim support and in total i was on remotely for just over 4 hours.

phone has been totally wiped now and working again but its setting everything up thats a nightmare.
it did find 40 or so contacts on the sim but now my phone book has filled up with facebook friends through synch even though i clicked do not sync.

    Go to BlackBerry App World

Search for Contact Manager The icon is a white book with green borders

    Buy it, it's very cheap

it's the most reliable and easy way to backup contacts with the touch of a button so you can do weekly backups on your memory card which can easily be imported back or even you can use that back up to import it into Outlook

Additionally, it has a merge feature that will scan all your contacts like the FB ones and merge them with their respective name. This is one app I cannot do without for my Q10

Restoring things should be easy, just go to App World and download all your previously installed apps then setup your emails. When I upgrade to a leaked OS, I usually do a clean wipe / reinstall and I can get my BB up and fully running in like 20 mins with the above methods.

thats just what i need. downloading now. thank you.
i was wrong earlier thinking it had saved 40 contacts. it actually hadnt and that was facebook slowly syncing everyone across onto phone. it had actually only saved 4 phone numbers even though when i bought the phone and set it up it had 99 contact numbers saved on the sim. now it only has 4.
it will now be a slow process of adding one by one. oh the joy of technology.

me need to go and lie down in a darkened room now as my brain has gone to mush.

one quick question though. when i tap on backup the path takes me to all folders with most of them empty. books, camera, docs, downloads etc. how do i set up a folder to capture all the names and phone numbers in.

off to sleep now but once again thanks for all the help. i swear i never had half this trouble with my previous blackberry torch.

    `

When you hit backup, it is going to backup all your phone contacts (not facebook and linkedin and others)

now, when you see that window, click on the far most left bottom icon as it is now in the phone memory so when you click that, change it to SD Card, then save it anywhere you like

it is also vital that you copy that backup file somewhere on your computer for:

    1) extra backup measure incase your SD card dies

    2) to be able to import your contacts into Outlook if you use it by choosing file, import/export, import, comma separated values, then choose that file

found a 2 year old backup xl file with all the numbers on but all new numbers are still lost.

i did have a phone OS backup but not even rim could activate it as the phone had locked. even after a clean install they couldnt activate the backup to load even though they were connected remotely.

spent all day typing in contacts
given up after 150 but now backed up with that software so once again thanks Ferris23
