Hi guys
I'm getting an Asus M70VM shortly (just got to sign and date the paperwork and send it back and sit back and wait...), and it comes with a Blu Ray Combo Drive.
Will I need any extra software to play dvds, especially Blu Ray/HD ones?
Just to note the laptop has an nVidia Geforce 9600M GPU and I understand that some GPUs are not capable of Blu Ray playback but I'm assuming that one is because the notebook is coming with a Blu Ray drive?
Anyway your advice on this would be greatly appreciated![]()

no, blu-ray drives can play dvd, vcd and cd

The BD drive plays CD, DVD and BD. Yes you will need a software to play BD but the laptop will most probably already have that installed for you (or at least a DVD to install the necessary software to play BD). 9600M can handle BD.

What model did you get exactly. I hope mine comes with a Blu ray drive..
When I ordered mine they were never specific on the suffix other
than that it will be a m70vm series. (I had ordered a a m70sa-a1
but is was sold out and discontinued so they told me I was going to be
shipped a m70vm model)
There are a couple of models from what I have seen rumored
on the web. There is a m70vm-a1, m70vm-b1 and a m70vm-7u005g.
I don't know if blu ray is standard on all models but it would be nice.
Also, i don't know if I should believe all the specs and model #'s
because supposedly the m70vm is to ship with Centrino 2 processors
and the one I see listed for the m70vm-a1 is a t5750 which is not a
Centrino 2 processor. -
This is the one I'm getting - http://www.meshcomputers.com/Default.aspx?PAGE=PRODUCTVIEWPAGE&USG=PRODUCT&ENT=PRODUCT&KEY=394773

Man that thing is EXPENSIVE
Desperately waiting for a scrap montevina notebook.. -
Ya well if it doesn't come as advertised it'll be going back, I've been saving for months now, and everytime I find one I like the look of the spec changes on me for the worse (Dell Vostro 1700) or the price goes up for the same spec (any other Dell, Acer, HP or any other brand)...
Good to know that the Blu Ray won't be a problem... -
already so at least one of us gets ours. On the 15th I'll be
calling to confirm the specs of the machine since
as of now they are not allowed to disclose any info because of
an agreement with intel.
Blu-Ray?
