    howdy ppl....i have the blue screen of death on my vista right now, and every once in a while it will shut off and all my tasks will be lost so i am typing as fast as i can right now!~!!

    i got my sony cam a few days ago and i tried installing the software but it didnt work with vista so i had to set it to XP compatibility mode...it installed and still didnt work and then the blue screen of death started appearing!!! WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW?>?>??? should i do a system restore? or is there a better way to get rid of the problem? cheers...

    Un-install the offending program. Go safe mode and do a system restore.

    will a system restore in safe mode wipe everything off my PC?

    No it won't. It will only restore the settings in your registry to the date that you believe your computer was working fine. All the personal data should be preserved the way it was.

    Only thing that will happen is that any software you installed past the restoration date will probably need to re-installed in order to work.
