I have a W7 64bit RC. I'm getting some very frequent BSODs mainly from copying files to and fro my external drives. Notables ones are ntfs.sys and IoBuildPartialMdl problems. Anyone have an idea what those could be targetted at? Does ntfs.sys control the general filesystem stuff?
I think it could be possible that my RC didn't burn properly because this is a second copy. And my first installation was fine. I formatted and installed again and the BSODs started. I even formatted again, but still it keeps happening.

I also had 3 bsod initially but can't pin it to the external disks. I didn't made anything but now bsod's just disappeared. I have an esata 1TB and a an usb 1TB connected to my system.

im having same blue screen randomly 1st thought it was a heat issue but used cooling device and undervolting and still did it???? windows ultimate x64 Hp

Well talked too earlier, bsod today because i just put a pen in it. After that i have made just the same action with same pen and nothing happened...
-
Are all of you getting BSODs due to problems with IoBuildPartialMdl and ntfs.sys as well? Do I sense a conspiracy? And now I can't redownload my RC because they've taken it down.

Error code plox.

I just had my first BSoD on my system ever! Was caused by Mozilla Firefox...
-
How do I check the error code? But it was always 0x0000012e (not sure how many zeros). I did a RAM test that was fine as well..
-
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.
etc. -
That'll have to wait for the next blue screen. I've tried with the 32bit version of Windows 7 RC, and the BSODs have decreased. But they still happen.
EDIT: A new one came. "PAGING_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA"
EDIT2: And I got hit by the IoBuildPartialMdl again
EDIT3: Since most people from google suggest checking the nVidia driver, I installed the 195.55 driver, but that doesn't seem to have helped. At all. It's really annoying because I know it's the 0x0000012e problem, but I don't know which is the driver using that memory space. -
Expect random BSOD's in the RC. BSOD's were history for me with the RTM version.

According to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms681382%28VS.85%29.aspx, error 0x12e (or 302) occurs when the volume is too fragmented. Don't know if it's the cause but I would try a defrag to see if it clears thing up.
-
I'm all lost for what to do. Because my first W7 64bit install was perfect for a long time and my second one was crap all the way. I'll try the defrag.

i will say i went to laptop2go and got my latest driver for my video card no issues in almost 24hrs

I ran some defrags with MyDefrag, and my disks were very very fragnented. That could be a cause. The 195.55 nVidia driver is fine for me for the time being. Though I won't know at all what the problem's source is when it BSODs
-
Meh, this sounds random. Does it do this under battery and being plugged in?
-
has anyone found a resolution to any of these? im still having issues 3 restarts yesterday
-
I resolved it completely be deleting and formatting my entire hard drive. Even deleting off my Linux partitions. The whole HD. Then I partitioned it again, and just defragged the NTFS parts. However, I downgraded to Vista as I only had an RC disk.
I guess it ironed out some sector problems or partition overlaps or whatever. And the defrag helped a lot too.
If your entire HD is devoted to W7 and still have problems with it, I guess try the defrag? I used MyDefrag. It's quite good.
