I have a custom made pc with Via mother board with built in audio/video/modem with a driver cs .P-4 ,40gb hard disk.
I am getting eachtime a blue screen with following coed,
    DRIVER-IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL
Then i reboot it gives same code.i formatted 5 times and even installed service pak 3 but same problems.i installed windows xp without any driver except built in voice/video.
If it goes to black and windows normal screen sometimes.
In eventvwr i get following codes,
100000d1,000000d1,0000007f,service control manager, portable media service number terminated,
Please let me know what is solution of this problem.I replaced sdram but no solution.
    Is it due to harddisk????

DRIVER-IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL is almost always driver related. You need to install the latest drivers, often not from your notebook manufacturer, but from the original parts makers (Realtek, nvidia, etc)

Sometimes the blue screen will give you added information, such as what file is causing the issue. For example, usbvideo.sys would indicate a webcam.

Do you codes change? Reason I ask have seen faulty ram cause random codes causing the user to believe they have a software problem when its actually a ram chip that locked or failed during a particular action running.
