Hello,
I purchases HP Sleekbook 6 with WIN 8.
CPU AMD A6.
RAM- 4GB (Upgraded to 2x4GB 1333mhz) by Crucial.com
while watching a random YouTube video on Google Chrome I got BSOD.
I did not read nor remember the BSOD message
But I found this in Windows 8 Error report.
Problem signature
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.2.9200.2.0.0.768.101
Locale ID: 2057
Extra information about the problem
BCCode: 50
BCP1: FFFFE48028663110
BCP2: 0000000000000000
BCP3: FFFFF88006191999

OS Version: 6_2_9200
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 768_1
Bucket ID: AV_athw8x+fa999
Can someone decipher this and tell me the possible cause of BlueScreen? (acc. to windows 8? log?)

BCCode 50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).
So, the firs thing to try is go back to your original memory configuration, and see if the error still occurs. If not, reinstall the memory you bought, and try again. Be sure the modules are properly seated. If the Bluescreen comes back, you have your culprit. -
download who crashed from my sig below which gives a much better dump report and post it on here
-
I really hope it is nothing serious.
But I suspected the new RAM.
However.
As soon as the Bluescreen occurred I re-opened the back lid. And reinstalled the new ram again.
Ran an HP DIAGNOSTIC MEMORY TEST for 5 hours over night (with the option of "loop until error occurs") and everything is OK. No Bluescreen ever since. But still I want to make sure that the RAM is not faulty on time so I can ask for replacement.
Hoever i have few things to confess and to note;
The google chrome had the "hardware acceleration" enabled (turned it off)
and
SINCE YOU MENTIONED "VIDEO RAM".
Does me installing generic Catalyst 13.4 have to do with anything?
(I did this long before I installed new ram and nothing was problem back then) -

Anything else??
However this HD Graphics AMD586 is not my GPU I have 7500g -
hmm, thats interesting. could have wiped dump memory when you changed the ram.
me cant advise much more until your next bsod. as soon as you get that run who crashed and post it up.
hopefully you wont get any more though. -
Ok, will do and thank You.
Hopefully was just my bad initial insertion of the RAM sticks in to the slots.
The HP Sleekbook is quite cramped inside. Last time I made sure that I hear loud and clear click when I put them back
However is the "wrong naming of my Graphics card " any lead. (bad driver or something?) -
now im no expert when it comes to anything amd as i only use nvidia but as you have intergrated graphics and not a dedicated graphics card im not sure if you still need the amd drivers or not.
is this your spec > HP Envy Sleekbook 15.6" Laptop - Black (AMD A6-4455M / 500GB HDD / 8GB RAM / Windows 8) : 15" Laptops - Best Buy Canada
hopefully a amd user will be able to advise better than me. -
When you see the BlueScreen does the system reboot? If so disable auto restart How to disable automatic system restart on system failure in windows 8, 7, vista, XP | TroubleShoot Windows.
IF you open Catalyst Control Center is your video card recognized correctly? -
And I think that my RAM type is different. It is not SDRAM mine is SOODIM non ECC unbuffered.
This is my spec

For now lets just wait and hope that the BSOD doesnt happen again
If yes I will post to you info from the program you gave me.
P.s- I just noticed while watching a video on Windows Media Player. That at one point there was a slight (lag & screech) lasted only 1/6 of a second but I heard it. Like it was ready to freeze up the laptop and go in BSOD. But it didnt.
-
And
yes catalyst sees and recognises the cart perfectly. -
Try using just one ram stick. The media player lag is suspicious.
Blue screen on my HP Sleebook 6 win8.
