I mean sending messages through my phone from my laptop. so that way when i'm in class i don't have to toy with my phone and i can just send a message back from my laptop.

What is your phone brand? Most phone software packages shipped with the phone (i.e. Nokia PC Suite for Nokia phones) support sending text messages through the phone (over Bluetooth, IR or cable ).

Or you can use one of those email to SMS gateways to text over internet

It all depends on what kind of bluetooth devices your phone presents to the computer. I really doubt you'll find any way to send a text (SMS) style message to your phone from your computer. You might be able to directly from your cell phone provider's site, though.

No they do have an app for that. I tried it out awhile ago but it was a trial. Forgot the name of it. Check Howardforums, somebody there probably knows.
