Hello.. I did a couple of the vista tweaks mentioned in this forum and everything went fine until i restarted my computer and it now goes into the windows boot manager and asks me to choose an operating system to start.
The problem is I only have one operating system and it appears like if I had two, if you click on the first one windows starts up fine, if you click on the second one it says theres an error...

what could be causing this and how can i fix it

Go to tools->folder options and tick show all files and show protected operating system files and in C: you can find the boot.ini.

Remove the line which shows second and it should be well.but be careful not to remove the good one.

    Not in Vista you won't.
You need to use another tool for this, Microsoft have BCDedit-which is quite difficult to navigate, or you could download easyBCD which is much easier.

Reboot your pc and let windows decide which one to start. Do not choose one for it.
Run the program (easyBCD). On the left there is a button that allows you to "View Settings" click on it and look at which one is the default. Then click the "Add/Remove Entries" button and select the one you want to get rid of (probably the second one) and click on delete. Then click on "Save". All should be fine now.
Please note that if you screw up the boot loader it isn't the end of the world as you can boot from the Vista DVD and repair the system with the built in startup repair tool (it's much easier in Vista as the tool tries this first when you click on repair).
If you are worried about deleting the wrong record, you could just change the "Bootloader Timeout" under "Change Settings" to 1 second. That way it will just flash up the operating system choices for only 1 second.

Can't you just do a Restore Point restore? I tend not to over-tweak because things like this happens. If you tweaked the registry you can just return it to it's normal default entry.

Do you create a restore point before every tweak? Otherwise you would have to do the whole lot again, and it can be quite a bit.

Actually I do create a restore point when I start doing some tweaks. The tweaks I do I do all at once since it would be a pain creating a restore point for EVERY tweak done. I would recommend www.vistax64.com for lots of tweaks and some are actually worth it.
