I just got my product key and ISO for Windows 7. I burned the ISO to the DVD-RW disc using IMGburn and everything went smoothly. But when I restart and try to boot from the dvd it doesn't work. It displays a black screen for a couple mins and you can hear the drive trying to read it. It then gives up and goes to Vista.. I had a similar problem in the past and what I'm wondering, Is it possible to make a Bootable DVD-RW disc?

I searched around but there doesn't seem to be a clear answer.
    Thank You!
    -Daniel

You may want to try, in build mode, click the advance tab, bootable disc, check make image bootable.

As vinumsv stated, it is possible. I just created 2 bootable DVD-RWs yesterday.

Could you please elaborate on how you did it? I bought some DVD+R's and still have the same problem. No matter what program I use, I still can't get my computer to boot into the disc.

Maybe the DVD image got corrupted while downloading  Can you find a MD5 hash for it and compare against yours? I have 32bit version, didnt burn it yet.

    EDIT, here is mine :
    Windows 7 Beta 1 32bit
    File name : 7000.0.081212-1400_client_en-us_Ultimate-GB1CULFRE_EN_DVD.iso
    Size : 2,618,793,984 bytes
    MD5 : f9dce6ebd0a63930b44d8ae802b63825

That is the correct MD5 sum. Maybe your disc was scratched or corrupted during burning.

Yes, that is correct according to many internet sources.

That means the problem is at your end. Double check that you have set the boot order properly in the BIOS
Then burn a new disk at a very slow speed like 4x, or even 2x (if you were already burning at 4x).

A simple program I use (have for years) is BurnCDCC. Google for it, small file, nothing installs and has always worked for me on all the ISOs I've created. (no coasters...).

Well you can still do a clean install in vista without losing it as long as you install it in another partition

What is the model of your DVD burner? Try to update the firmware.

It seems that I, too, am having some issues using the discs I burned. I burned both the x86 (with Magic ISO) and x64 versions (with ImgBurn), and they both came out with the same error messages. I'm stuck at this point.

I had no problem burning windows 7(64bit) to a DVD-RW disc. I used nero burning rom and just burned the ISO exactly as it came from Microsoft onto the disc and then restarted and it worked right away with no issues.

Good for you. Maybe I should try Nero too, since MagicISO and ImgBurn both failed (I'm assuming).

How does one go about checking this? I promise I used to know and, for some odd reason, I can't think of it for the world right now. I promise I'm smarter than the average bear.
