OK, here is the mystery. The story start when one day I noticed, that the time on my laptop is 2 hours behind the actual time. So, I went to the clock and changed it.

Few days later I ran into the same problem. I checked my timezone settings (GMT-6 Central + automatically adjust for...), everything looked ok. I changed my time to normal again, then went to "time and clock-internet time-chenge settings" and synchronized time, pressing Update now. The time didn't change, so, the error could not be caused by the wrong timezone...

Right now I checked my clocks again and it said 5-30, when it was 7-30. I went to update time, and it fixed its self to 7-30...

    Now: why does it happen?

About my laptop: MSI Gt627, Vista, I removed my battery and have it on the cord. At night I hibernate my laptop, but I do the restarts few times a week.

    :eek2:

What time is it in the BIOS?

It may not be able to connect to whatever time-server it's supposed to be using - check the event logs to see if anything related to that got logged.

    How do I check that?

It does connect. It says: the clock was successfully synced at... And time changes.

    P.S. I'm using windows time

To check the BIOS time, go into the BIOS setup routine when you first power up the system (the key to use varies by system - it might be F2).

If it's syncing properly, but the time is still drifting, it might be a problem with the CMOS battery - drifting time is one of the symptoms that the battery is going bad - however, your system seems a little too new for that to be happening now.

    Bios clock is currently fine.
Battery: the difference in time is always 2 hours exactly. Is it still possible battery problem? How can I check it?

I encountered this problem once. That was back in the days when I was using PIII on desktop. The problem was the CMOS ran out of battery, so I changed a new battery. But I never had this problem on a laptop, don't know how to change the CMOS battery on a laptop motherboard.

Just to be sure, the difference between comp. and actual time was always the same?

If the difference is always 2 hours exactly, then I doubt if it's a problem with the CMOS battery going bad - that usually shows up as a changing time difference that gradually gets worse and worse, not one that jumps to 2 hours and stays stuck there.

Well, it should be on software side. Maybe it's some program... I turned off automatic syncing and will see for a week how it goes.

Did you get your laptop in one country/region and then move to another? I'm thinking that the localization pack in the OS might be telling the time server you use that you're located in one country, but since you're actually in another (that's two time zones away from the country being indicated by the OS), the time server might be giving you bum time info.

I had the same problem with my desktop. I made sure the time zone was correct and the sync site was correct and still it would not show the correct time. Sometimes it would be 2 days behind. But some how it started to sync correctly. Could it be a virus or something?
