    It's been awhile since we argued over which browser is best! In the meantime, all browsers have been updated, Firefox Quantum has arrived, and the time between new Konqueror updates has increased. So it's time to ask again, which browsers to you use at home by personal choice?

    I'm intentionally leaving the question this way rather than "favorite", since many people use more than one. Also intending it as ones you use by choice, not because your bank only supports IE 10 with ActiveX enabled.

    Limiting to five choices because I know how tempting it can be to select everything. Sorry if I didn't include your favorite, there is a maximum on the number of poll choices!

    Usually Edge and Vivaldi. I've found both to be less stable than FF/Chrome, but if I don't try to keep 20+ tabs open across several days (with countless standby/on cycles), then all is usually fine. When I am deep into a project, those conditions often arise. Usually FF is the most stable in that circumstance, but I actually have been stuck on FF53 (it's a portable install with a large number of media capture extensions that no longer work in Quantum, so I don't use FF much, outside of when I need those tools). I have yet to bother with the Quantum update.

    I honestly use google because of the GUI, I don't do any intense browsing functions

    I've never heard of 3/4 of these lol. I still use Chrome because it has all my passwords and credit cards and other junk saved and I'm too lazy to enter it all again, or figure out how to transfer it all across if that is even possible. I like the way it's seemless between multiple PC's and my phone, and work allows us to install Chrome on our machine so that works great too.

    So what? People use what they like and that's the end of it.

    Was a big Firefox fan until Mozilla decided to take a crap on the UI and add more bloat with every new version. I then switched to Chrome and enjoy its easy sync functionality with my Android Phone

    Been using Chrome for the past few years and I don’t have much reason to move away from it.

    Sometimes I’ll use IE for work, but otherwise I use Chrome on my work laptop as well.

    Some sites work better or if they use alot of MS products on their sites interface better with IE/Edge and some work better for FF or Chrome. Alot depends on the site itself and webmasters what they program to function on one Browser will not necessary work on another. If you use Web Outlook using it in IE gives it more function then if you load it in FF or Chrome. And if you go to eBay some pictures don't show up properly on FF but if IE/Chrome is used you still more that isn't shown in FF. So it's not just user preferences but site Preferences that can determine which works better for which sites. So the Question in itself by discounting this Factor is very misleading and skews the question that is being asked itself.

    If a dev team is too lazy / inexperienced to be able to write browser-independent web code, I’m not sure I’d want to visit their site :)

    I'd be using Opera Presto for everything if that were still possible (last non-security update was late 2012 :vboops: ). Might switch to Iron or Waterfox (Chrome and Firefox, respectively), but they'd have to be able to do a few things:
    1. panels (embedded 'Link' option with quicksearch is great)
    2. site-custom-css
    3. user override javascripts
    4. single key commands
    5. user-controlled ad-blocking (wildcards)
    6. user-specified browser agent, site dependent (to counter browser sniffing)
    There's a lot more, but these are bare minimum. One of them might be able to this, though I'm sure it'd be a ton of work and am very much not looking forward to that ...

    As for poor cross-browser compatibility:
    Code:
    [Open in menu]
    Include, Internal OpenIn Menu
    Item, Waterfox="Execute program, "C:\Programs\Browser\Waterfox\Waterfox.exe","%u",, "Waterfox icon""
    Item, Iron="Execute program, "C:\Programs\Browser\Iron\IronPortable.exe","%u",, "Iron icon""
    Result:

    Search engines, too:
    Code:
    [Search Engine 11]
    UNIQUEID=C916CE49D294084194AAF8DE16561B06
    Name=Wayback Machine
    Verbtext=0
    URL=https://web.archive.org/web/*/%s
    Query=
    Key=wm
    Is post=0
    UseTLD=0
    Has endseparator=0
    Encoding=utf-8
    Search Type=0
    Position=-1
    Nameid=0
    Deleted=0
    Result:

    Have to admit; that Quantum version looks very promising though. Ought to schedule a day or two and try a conversion once it's out of beta.
