When im on this forum and others...firefox keeps on searching....On the bottom of the browser "Transferring date from paged2.googlesyndication.com" and it does not stop...I have to manually stop it. Why is it doing this? The only add-on I have are Fasterfox, Flashgot, and Talkback. Both flashgot and talkback are disable. I am on version 2.0.0.7. Its very annoying. Anyone else?

I've never noticed FireFox doing that, and I've got a boatload of add-ons (AdBlock Plus, Auto Copy, Better Gmail, Clippings, DOM Inspector, Download Helper, DragDropUpload, gTalk Sidebar, IE Tab, Mouse Gestures, and Tab Mix Plus).

You may want to do a spyware scan just to make sure something else isn't interfering.

try getting the NoScript addon.. that might help. With virtually every webpage I go to the noscript icon in the statusbar shows that it's blocking something and when I look it's usually google-analytics or something similar.

    http://noscript.net/

I wouldn't like to say that 100% this will stop it but it might help.

I think it's the Google ads that are placed on the pages.

If it's what some are saying, click the down arrow to the right of the Google search box, manage (at the bottom) ... LOL... hold on I'm lost.

    It's not a Firefox issue.

What that is, and some others like it, are website statistics gatherers. The website puts them there, so they affect all browsers, not just Firefox.

It is possible to block them in Firefox, though.

I routinely block them via filters I add to those already present in the EasyList (USA) filter subscription to the AdBlockPlus add-on for Firefox.

Others I add (and block) include:

I'm still not sure how to tun of page rank but I think it's at the bottom of the manage, then more menu.

I have No Scripts which may be stopping it. (and the box I mentioned above is uncheck)

Those advertisement filters shown above the EasyList (USA) subscription in the picture attached to my previous post are entries I made myself via the Add Filter function; they are not included in AdBlockPlus nor EasyList (USA).

My preferred option would be to get the ads on the site fixed. If Google can't manage ads that don't cause trouble for the enduser (and preferably finish loading in less than 15 seconds), perhaps it's time to look for different ad providers...

for those of you with adblockplus, i'd suggest adblock something something filterset-g updater...lol
it updates the list for you, so you dont have to block em manually.

It isn't Ads nor Google per se. Usually it is the website itself using "Google Analytics" (or another) to collect website statistics

I've not used FilterSet-G myself, but all appearances are that it is mostly, if not completely, contained within the standard Firefox of V2 and above.

EasyList (USA) also automatically updates, if you allow it to.

I believe that you can manually extend the filters, as I have done, as a basic feature of AdBlockPlus, with or without any FilterSet subscription.

Never happened to me. I have experienced the very rare continuous page load but only for pages which don't have no script enabled. I have 2.0.0.8 and have faster fox, downthemall, no script, no go buttons, mcafee siteadvisor, gmail manager, undo closed tabs button, WOT.

There's only a handful that I've added, and they are shown in the previous post as a screen print. It seems that AdBlockPlus will export/import filters as well, saving them as .txt files.

A good percentage of yours would be caught via the EasyList (USA) subscription. I've had the "tribalfusion" entries in mine now and again, too.

And using wildcards as in http://*offermatica.com* covers all the others with like names.
