I am using Win 7 64 bit ftw
is this an RC or beta? coz it seems to be more stable than any OS I have ever used.
-
7201 is an RC.
-
This is normal. Stable is normal. Unstable is "something is wrong." Unstable means something needs to be fixed. It's a bad driver, a bad piece of hardware, a bad overclock, something of that nature. The OS is not the culprit these days. Or the last several thousand days. -
after 7229, many/most/all of the leaked 'releases' were first seen as VHD images which were then modified/captured into a bootable/installable ISO image.
That process alone means that a significant portion of the leaked release has been screwed with by third parties. Hash check sums be damned. -

No, I'm warning you that the msft 'leak' has been modified with components from other beta/rc releases so as to manually 'create' a bootable/installable ISO.
Any and all leaks/releases that originate as a virtual hard drive file (.vhd) and have been 'converted' to an ISO are heavily screwed with. I believe that 7201/7229 is the last real ISO build. Everything else since then has been as a VHD.
So young padwan, exercise caution, read all of the enthusiast/news web sites, and don't get all excited over rapid fire releases. -
right, I will exercise caution
I never install a 32 bit OS on my system anyway, this build will be going to friends computers
-
If you want to be sure not to get your friend pissed off at you give him a copy of build 7229. The differences between 7229 and 'newer' are miniscule.

Jessica, thanks very much for participating here. As you've no doubt seen, there are a lot of enthusiasts with varying levels of experience and competency working with computers. We do share an enthusiasm for trying things out, knowing the differences between the multitude of real and unreal (??) builds, and generally improving our knowledge of the product.
Is there any way you could dig out some info on which of the released/leaked builds (newer than b7100) were built as bootable/installable ISOs and which were distro'd as VHDs?
The value of this information would be that users here could judge which of the build in question might be safe to use and which are likely to have been screwed with by third parties. I've personally found that everything newer than 7229/7231 went the VHD-third party-iso conversion route but having the straight info from msft would be quite helpful.
Thanks and welcome! -
unless I'm brain dead 7260 is the rtm release, and has only been released as x86.
