Im buying a new laptop soon (Asus A8Sc) and it comes with Windows Vista Business. Apparently Vista isnt as good as XP? Is it worth spending another $200 (AUD) just to upgrade to XP or should i just stick with Vista?
And if i do keep Vista what problems am i likely to encounter? Does it take up more memory etc.
Finally, if i choose to buy XP, is it just a CD i put in the laptop and download or is there more to it?
Thanks alot.

stick with vista.
if you have a dual core and 2gb of ram you will be fine with vista.
if you buy xp it will be a cd, but don't, its a waste of money. -

If you have an XP CD, you could change your Vista License into an XP Pro one with a phone call to MS, and then , when you are ready to migrate - you can go back to Vista.
What's still unclear to me is: the machine whose XP has been used to downgrade Vista, can still (legally) run that same XP? -
Just stick with Vista. It's already far better than it was just 7 months ago at launch, and it's clearly better than XP if you don't have any legacy programs that absolutely require older versions of Windows. It's more secure, it looks better, it's easier to use, and your system is more than good enough to handle the demands of Vista.
