Well, On my windows XP we have 3 accounts set up and all are administrator accounts. I just did a new reinstall and on 2 of the accounts when I try to open Program Files under the C drive it says that the C: is not accessible. But I can open other files under the C drive... What is going on?![]()

Sound likes someone mess up NTFS permission.
-
Sorry but what is that??
-
Well, may be the other 2 accounts that you created didn't have administrative previledges. They are user accounts. By default, the user account can’t write back to the root of C. They can write back to the folder that is being created on the root of C.
I didn’t read your question well. I guess you didn’t mess up NTFS permission on your XP. What I state above is just a default behavior for the user account. If you elevate the account previledge to administrators group. The account can write on the root of C as normal, but it isn’t recommend under corporate environment. -
Well, It is just my home computer. This was never like this before the reformat. And all the users are administrators.

Is the root of your C looks like this? If it isn't, the NTFS permission is mess up.

so you reinstalled xp and set up new accounts and they don't work or what? -
How do you look at the root of your C? I can not get a security tab to come up through properties or sharing and security.
C: Drive not accesible
