What the heck is this file C:\Windows\System32\PerfStringBackup.TMP that my computer is writing to like 100000 times a day and killing my SSD? I tried renaming it or setting it to write only but it just makes PerfStringBackup.TMP1, PerfStringBackup.TMP2, PerfStringBackup.TMP3, ... .no end.
Says that it's being written by WMIADAP.exe.

First things first, run anti-virus check. Even if you're using one, use one or two free online ones:
HouseCall - Free Online Virus Scan - Trend Micro USA
Free ESET Online Antivirus Scanner
http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
and also run malwarebytes anti-malware:
Malwarebytes
Sounds like a virus or malware to me. -
