My C: local drive icon went missing in "My Computer". It appears on all my other partitions. Instead its showing the generic/unknown extension icon. What to do?

You can type C: in the address bar to get into your hard drive; if you want the icon back I don't know how...

get the power toys for winxp (tweak UI) there is a repair icons option. I am not sure if that includes such cases, but might be worth a try.

Otherwise you have to go do a registry edit to get back the original icon. Something simillar happens to me every once in a while. The labels of my optical drives get screwed and I have to fix them thru the registry.
