I am an incoming freshman into college and am faced with the pleasure of buying a laptop. I need to be able to run programs like CAD and Inventor etc. What types of specifications should i be looking for. Is an Intel Core2 Duo Processor2 T5750 (2.00GHz, 667MHz, 2MB L2 cache) doable. I was planning on buying a Gateway P-172S FX Edition then figured I should ask some people before i got ahead of myself. I would like to be able to run games as well which is why i was looking for something with a solid graphics card. Its hard to find something over ther 2.0GHz for a price a poor high school kid can afford. Im trying to cap at around $1800 - a little over i can deal with. Any help/input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

being an architecture student using cad constantly on my laptop i can tell you autocad 2008 runs great on my hp dv2500. its got a core 2 duo t7300 2 ghz and 2 gigs of ram. not the best choice for your gaming tho. make sure you use your student email address for a student discount before you purchase the laptop. but as long as you have a core 2 duo and at least 2 gigs of ram most autodesk products will run good. you may even want to go with a 64 bit system because autocad comes in 64 bit. i've been using it for 6 months now and its running flawlessly.
