Annoying isn't it you have almost downloaded a file when your connection fails deleting the whole file. Well if it is a video file allow part of the file to download say 2 megabytes then open the file with VLC media player as soon as the file starts to play hip pause. Other media players will tell you the file is in use and won't allow you to do this. If the download crashes the portion of the file you have will remain. This also works if you have an incomplete RAR file that you are unpacking.
